Turbocharged 1.6.
5-door body shell.
Dual-clutch transmission.
Oh dear.

A crap run-out special for the Clio 200 means even that isn't particularly interesting!

I can live with a 1.6 Turbo, can live with DSG but not with 5 doors only.

I have people in the back at the most once a month and even then it's no real effort.. 5 doors look terrible!

Oh but I bet it gets softer plastics and some rubbish like a na imitating speaker inside the cabin, if thats what gets good reviews is it any wonder renaultsport has gone in this disappointing direction?

Hmmm, nothing about this car immediately sounds great. I think my old 182 had a lot more going for it, but despite all that I have every confidence in renaultsport producing an amazing, best in class, car.

Doesn't appeal to me at all, but then again it is only a renault so why should it?
Because they make some of the best FWD cars about, and this is a car website?
They make wrong wheel drive cars admittedly; but the best?! laugh

i love my 172, i love it even more because its 3 door.

I really am not a fan of 5 door hatches.

some may agree some may not.

Some of the best, yes.

Are you struggling with this?
I'm pretty sure this dude popped up o the rs 172 & 182 buyers guide moaning about renaults.

thing is my 172 is the 1st renault ive bought, so you dont even need to be a fan boy to know that the renaultsports have recieved high praise form lots of reviews for handling.

The pictures here look slightly more Renaultsporty but still hideous.

Yup, seems like PH have the wrong pics. You can clearly see the F1 wing inspired front spoiler and rear diffuser, with rectangle exhaust tips. Quite interesting, car seems to have a better stance too.

If there's one criticism that's universally acknowledged over at the RenaultSport forums, it's the lack of torque this car has. The turbo should remedy that.

Another observation I've made from my frequent visits to the RS forum is that the majority of members consider the RS Megane as an upgrade to the RS Clio. They like the increase in speed, interior room and don't seem to mind the turbo at all. It seems Renault have listened to buyers and have worked out what the majority seem to want. Sure you'll get people who are steadfast NA fans and don't mind the smaller package, but Renault are chasing sales without harming the RenaultSport brand image here, it's a careful balancing act.

My only worry is this car will weigh significantly more than the current car. Although we've been told it's going to be lighter, stiffer and quicker. I'll therefore reserve judgement.

I hope they go nuts with the Cup version. And I'm not sure why people are complaining about a possible DSG style box, it's just an option for people who want that.

If Peugeot wants a slice of the pie, I'd suggest they bring out a serious 208 Rallye. And change that stupidly obtrusive steering wheel.

As for how this car looks, I don't see what all the negativity is about. More of the same pointless PHer moaning for the sake of moaning I think.

Just bought an RS200. Last real RenaultSport cool

Only kidding.

Actually looks nice. But personally, the two things I love the most about the car is the screaming NA 2.0 and the lovely manual gear box (even if it is made of chocolate) Remove these two and I'm not so sure..

I thought that was a ford! biglaugh

Agree that it really was the engine that defined so much of the clio to date, the new one has a lot to live up to.

Whilst I find the current Clio RS a highly desirable car, I struggle to do the same with what is indicated here...

not sure about those rear 'hips' - looks a bit like a Toyota Auris thingumbyjig...difficult to see all of the above being a move in the right direction but guess we'll have to wait and see...my own view and judging by some of the comments here would seem that the current model is pretty much bang on, just wish Renault would make strides in build quality and reliabilty not just chic design..still..Renault Sport models are £ for £ best value hoot and genuinely great cars when they're on song

Looking past the disguise wrap it would appear that Renault have pulled out all the stops to produce their ugliest car ever. Good news for owners of current and previous RenaultSports I would say.....

The only criticisms of the previos RS Clios were that they were bloody expensive to get more power and the gearboxes were a bit fragile.

I still wouldn't have the new one with the turbo and DSG, though.

There's some potential for it to look decent under that wrap, but that won't make up for the rest!!

On a brighter note, might get to see some racing in the Castle Combe Saloons in a few years when the prices come down. I'm sure the lack of Clios at the moment is due to them being too expensive to tune to make them competitive.

Search on autotrader reveals 4,000 3 door Clios and 2,000 5 doors. Shooting themselves in the foot a bit, no?

He does seem to have a chip on his shoulder about Renaults. Not a problem as obviously everyone can have their say, but why come onto a topic about them to say you don't like them?

(I don't really like Renaults either FYI)

How can a car not even released get immediately their performance version? R.S in this case.

These are tests with a basic Clio 4 shell testing suspensions or some other part for the R.S IMO.

And the Clio 4 will look similar to the ZOE,better looking than the current Clio imo, remember when that came out everybody said is st ugly too.

And as long as it will have 220 bhp and a turbo engine,it will be enough to keep up with the rivals, the paddle box is wrong as is a DSG in a 180 hp Polo but i think they may have gotten bored making drivers cars for the last 10 years so now following the concurrence.

I seem to intensely hate every new generation of clio, until the next one comes out, at which point I fall in love with the former.
