How did he get insures for only 250 GBP? I would have thought the insurance companies would have ran a mile from this.
You would think so! but they dont... owners of 'special stuff' tend to be very careful with them I guess???My 500bhp+ westfield is pretty much an accident waiting to happen according to most people! and costs me £200 a year! £40k agreed value as well.

Two possibilities. Either he found an insurer that said, "It's only a Morris Minor, how bad could it be..." or it's so unique that nothing like this has ever been insured before and it therefore has a great crash/expense history. As with the case above, sometimes if a car is rare enough that all examples are with careful owners, the crash history can be so good that they are cheaper to insure than you would expect.Wild Rumpus said:
I remember reading the build on this, but I was always puzzled as to why he stuck the Fiat twin cam it it. Not that it's a bad engine, but the same work on a newer engine like a Zetec, Duratec or Vauxhall XE would get a lot more power. Maybe he just had the engine lying around? Other than that the car is well cool.
The Fiat engine is a common swap for many Minor owners. Not sure of the reasonings, but I would imagine it's something to do with size and mounting points. Since the builder/owner has a history in 'hot' Minors, I imagine he had a decent amount of knowledge on tuning the Twin Cam.newdogg06 said:

Why would you not have to pay for an MOT?

Regardless, the car gets a 10 from me

Carbon fibre spaceframe? Not seen one of those before - anybody got any details?
My guess would be that CF/Al honeycombe sheets would be inserted between relevent parts of the steel frame and then the honeycombe and steel 'sandwiched' both sides with CF sheet. If you make the top part of the floor plan to include the tunnel then you get something with phenominal rigidity without all the extra metal cross members you would otherwise require.DonkeyApple said:

Yes, but it really isn't a Morris Minor any more is it? And you can get conversion kits for Zetec an K-Series engines now for the normal Minor.Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
