I presume ADAM is a reflection of Adam Opel AG which was the German company name for a long time. Adam Opel being the founder.
Really daft that the GM branding machine didn't change it for UK
Spot on with the reasoning behind it. The exact same reasoning behind such great car naming moves as a Ferrari Enzo or Ferrari Dino. The Opel Adam - which is what it will be known as everywhere except the UK. Even Ireland get Opels. It just brings home the fact that a Vauxhall isn't really a Vauxhall, it's an Opel. Unless it's a Holden, of course ;-) The stupidity of badge engineering in the hope they sell a few more cars. But half-hearted badge-engineering bodge in this case.Really daft that the GM branding machine didn't change it for UK

I thought "Adam and Eve" was rhyming slang for "believe" not "leave"?
There isn't a dictionary for that nonsense but I've heard it used for 'believe' and never for 'leave'.As for the car, I hate it but it will sell buckets with people for whom the Fiat 500 and passe and the new KA is ugly (anyone with eyes, then).

What "Market segment" does this appeal to?
It appears that Vauxhall is desperate to bankrupt itself, who in their right mind will buy this car?
Really??It appears that Vauxhall is desperate to bankrupt itself, who in their right mind will buy this car?
The name might be stupid, but the car looks modern, fresh and funky. I can see it appealing on those levels to a great many people. It will also likely be well priced, with a huge nationwide dealer network, making it a very easy car to buy, maintain and run.

Erm, the same market that buys the hundreds of thousands of Fiat 500's, Twingo's, KA's, 107's, Aygo's, C1's etc. Not to mention VAG's new line up of the MII, UP and Citigo. If a market didnt exist they all wouldnt be at it!It appears that Vauxhall is desperate to bankrupt itself, who in their right mind will buy this car?
