Would love to dive down under the bonnet of that 924 (I´m a 924/turbo nerd royale smile), and of course get a set of spare keys to the storage garage so I could go and have a look whenere I want to smile

Are'nt they brilliant all these Porsche guys they really love there company. I'm a Mercedes nut and they are the same. I find a lot of the AMG people I know worked for Porsche originally. It must be something in the water down Stuttgart way. Another thing with these films, the music is marvelous.

Being truly 'bullet resistant' makes the 996 weigh 3 Tonnes, there goes any hope of performance in the getaway...

Mmm, 928 cabrio... want!
It does look really good, and I'm wondering why it never got to production. I would have thought that the potential market for the car in the US would have been huge.

In the first video
"This storage facility in a top secret location"

In this video
"we'd like to display this car [928 cab] in the actual museum, a few metres away from here"

Anyone enjoying this video/thread needs to grab a copy of this 80's book about quirky Porsches.

Currently £3.60 second hand on Amazon!

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Porsche-Specials-Lothar-Bo...

Not a huge amount of detail on each car, but Includes 4 door 911s, tanks and road going 917s!

Fantastic stuff .. really helps to build up a history of a company.

Such a shame others have not done it.

I love to see them warts and all.

Cheers for the book recommendation, bought one too. I won't be happy until I have a coffee table hidden under 3 feet of oversized auto books...

I wonder if there's a 500E or RS2 in the museum, didn't spot one? Any other Porsche-built German cars, can't think of any?

So they say a couple of times 'we found this car'... Do Porsche buy back interesting cars then from private collections, or do they just find them under bits of tarp around the factory?

928 Cab looks stunning, would have been one of Porsche best ever looking road cars and i agree, the US would have lapped it up bigtime. It still looks fresh and modern, really nice lines. I always liked the 928, especially the later S4, GT and GTS. Don't see any about these days. Been to the last two Porsche GB events at Goodwood and not a single 928. Just about every other Porsche is covered, 356, 912, 911, 924, 944, 968, Boxster, Cayenne, Panamera but no 928 frown

Only called the 911 3.2 Carrera , no 4wd version in the 3.2, the 964 was carrera 2 & 4

Last car to carry the 911 designation.

I really don't get it with Porsche. Their sports car morphed from the Bettle, which has taken 60 years to get right. I drove a 911 turbo in the early 90''s and it was lethal. The 924 and 944 were essentially VW's as well and a failed attempt to get volumes up.
Their current range looks dated and again looks like stretched, cut, oversized photoshop versions of the yawn 911.
The only really innovatve car they did was the 928 which they made a mess of, unfortunately because at least it was innovative and looked great.
There are so many other innovative car companies out there.
It is fitting they they are now owned by the same company that brought them into existance VW. Volks Wagen - The peoples car, a named penned by a man with big ideas, black hair and a tiny tash.

Does take a bit of ability and a lack of shoulder mounted chips to 'get' many Porsche's. Beetle comments are as far off the mark as you can get. Pity a meglomaniac stuffed the company trying to buy vw.
