At 18k I'd place an order today please Mr Toyota
I guess it's a supply and demand thing. They know the car will be well received in the uk. And know they can charge 25k for it and still flog every RHD one they can make.

scratchchin

Would everybody be so kind as to not buy one for 6 months. Then they may deflate the price a little. Ta. smile

Except it will be a mass produced car, I think Mr T would have taken orders for 4 times as many if they'd priced it better. A limited number for sale does not mean a limited production run.

Everything is a rip-off in the UK.

Have you compared the list price of a Corvette here with what you'd pay in the USA?

read the thread again... it seems the UK is well priced compared to many,

b.t.w in ukraine the GT86 lists at £62k!! (then again 40% import duty dosen't help!)

With any luck this will go the way of the Mx5/Eunos back in the day.

Buckets loads being imported due to the significantly lower cost plus the fact that Japs generally have much better kit equipped ‘as standard’.

Any reason why you can't just get one from the north? Or is re registering down south a pain in the backside?

I have never looked into it myself but I would imagine the VRT would be A good few thousand.I have seen A few bikes up for sale here that have come over from England. You could pay nearly 500 euro on VRT for A bike thats only maybe 4 years old,so I would imagine it being very high on A brand new car. Also I am pretty sure that if you have extras like electric windows etc it costs even more so the cheapest way to bring A car over from England is if it is bog spec.

Have you compared the price of a Lotus or any German car in the UK compared to the US? The US is such a rip-off. wink

And how many people will pay full price for one? If you can't get one with at least £2k off, you're not trying and deserve to pay more.
Really? Show me a dealership that will give 2k off one, and ill buy some stock!

I believe it's up to a third of open market selling price in Ireland depend on the emissions. Plenty of hassle sorting it all out too... I think 40000 is the base price with no options according to the brochure I received... Probably more cost effective to bring in a scionsmile

Expensive for what it is but it's ok in comparison to other brand new cars here. Rather a cheap rx8. Plenty left over for any issues!

What about those Peugeot RCZs and VW Sciroccos and BMW 1-series and Audi TTs, eh? Massive rip off at around 25k, they should all be sub-20. whistle

I've seen one in dark blue driven on back road not far from Dublin airport. I know the looks are controversial but I loved it and was like a child telling everyone about my first sighting.

I agree. They probably won't sell well here... There's no diesel version you see tongue out I'll just wait for the flood of imports from Japan as we do for any decent carsmile

In the lower trim level, the RCZ is from £21,210 for the 156ps model, £23,595 for the 200ps version.

You sure? Porsche USA lists a Boxster S at $60,900 which using the first currency calculator I found is £38,471. Porsche uk lists it as £45,384, bargain!

I'm in Texas this week and I've seen a bunch of Toyota 86s / Scion whatevertheyarecalleds.

If they are as cheap as 17k, i can see why. Basically a new 200sx / Celica - which were really popular in the states with younger drivers.
