I was expecting more power tbh. my R53 is running around the 200bhp mark and weighs 1315 kg and its not what I would call fast.
R53 = one of the early ones?

1315 kg = eek

Surprised they are THAT heavy.
Can't find any stats to back that up, everything I can googlefu in about 20s says ~1100-1200kg
Sorry my mistake, its 1215 kg

No recaro buckets?? That will be another £2-3k on the options list.

Like the rest of it but disappointed it comes with standard seats at that price.
The GP is coming with Recaro seats, here's confirmation from the official press release:

'The exciting race car feel is raised a further notch by an interior ambience which, partly due to the absence of a rear seat bench, is focused entirely on the needs of the driver and “co-driver”, both of whom can savour the performance of the MINI John Cooper Works GP to the full thanks to Recaro sports seats with special GP stitching.'

Wheels are foul. Just a bit too tacky for me. Would spend that much money on a 1 series Coupe. Sorry.

Indeed, they may not appear special (like the Recaro Sportster CS type seats you see in countless cars with the integrated headrest, which I never thought were that great when I had them in my mk2 FRS), but if these ones are anything like the Recaros in my girlfriend's original MINI GP, then these will be deeply bolstered and very good at what they do.

Those are the "comfort" leather seat option called "Lounge". The other option is "Punch".

Who will buy this?

At £20k it would be expensive.

That's some incredible lurking, top work.

They don't ever give you rear seats? So it's a 2 seater hot hatch? rofl

Yes, I know of the Renault R26 two seater which sold...what? One?

The last Works GP sold out and this one will too, that I guarantee.

I always think that what passes for a dashboard on a Mini was designed by a primary school art class. It's just such a complete mess.

I always liked the interior until I saw and touched it in real life. The design is OK to my eyes (if a tad kitsch), but the plastics are brittle and the general finish are very cheap and cheerful. At least that was my impression of the 61 plate Cooper I had as a courtesy car earlier in the year. It rattled too, with 1700 miles on the clock.

I like the Mini, but my personal opinion is it is comically overpriced. Clearly the sales success suggests otherwise.

30k?? Not a chance. id never buy a brand new car anyway, and if i did i wouldnt buy this. A 370z is around the same price and probably more fun. Back to the old arguement about new vs used, but id keep my RS clio 172 ahead of this. For a 6th of the price i could make it nearly as quick. Some of you will try and ridicule this statement, but its MY opinion. Not gospel

I quite like the Cooper S, well I respect it at least for what it is but they are overpriced, over styled and under equipped (I don't mean frivolous options either)

I am sure this new GP edition is a very good car but at £29k you REALLY have to want a Mini because there is no other justification in buying this car over even a 200 Cup never mind a 265 Megane, not to mention the raft of other sports cars and hot hatches you can get both new and lightly used for that sort of outlay.

£5-6k 182 Trophy anyone? Maybe just me biggrin
