Moaning on here won't get your money back. Take it up with the dealer or suck it up.

Because you might be wrong about it being a problem, so why should the dealer have to pay if you are?

They're paying for the repair, you pay for the fuel.
Well if you are wrong, then you should be billed. If you are right, and the warranty covers the fault, then it should cover all costs of repair including fuel imo.

If the fault was being repaired under warranty, then I'd expect all costs relating to the fault to be paid.

Finally some sense in this thread. WTF is wrong with PH these days.

Fault with car. Under warranty. The fix was paid for by the warranty. It shouldn't cost the customer any money as it was not his problem the car was faulty in the first place.

Half a tank of fuel, litre of oil and a few hundred miles?

High performance car?

3 weeks?

scratchchin

Balls, nothing takes three weeks.

Your car has been used as personal transport by some spanner monkey for a few dirty weekends away.

Main dealer or independant?

I'm pretty sure people are still allowed to have their own opinions.

Suggesting otherwise is "WTF is wrong with PH these days."

Yep I'd be a bit miffed too if it was under warranty. A bit like being charged for the electicity they've used in the workshop.

The warranty is with the manufacturer, not the dealership/garage. If it is a 3rd year warranty, depending on the manufacturer involved, it may be underwritten by an insurance company(Car Care Plan etc).
Neither of these will pay for fuel costs on a repair. If you feel that strongly about it, I would suggest contacting the manufacturer customer services to see what they can do and if they think its acceptable.

I would be too, sadly apart from never using them again there's not a lot you can do. Maybe try the manufacturer's forums to find another more reputable main dealer for warranty work?

Lets look at this another way.

If you'd taken the car in running on fumes would they invoice you for the fuel used?

Would they have refused to fix the fault until you put some petrol in?

Stop quimming about it on the internet and speak to the dealer and say 'I want the fuel you used back' if the answer is still no, speak to the manufacturer directly.

Can people not do anything for themselves these days without asking everyone else for an opinion? FFS

I'm wanting to know what high performance car will do a few hundred miles on super UL using only half a tank? Sounds like the OP owes the garage for more fuel...

wink

I wish i could get a few hundred miles to half a tank of fuel( I'm lucky to get that out of a full tank) and if they have been abusing it then it would have used twice as much. But the 1 litre of oil is a worry as if its a new car it should not use that in 3 weeks even a mazda rx8 dont use it that quick!
