Why the obsession with Black Circles on here, never the cheapest in my experience.
Indeed, Camskill have been untouchable for most things (excellent service too), but occasionally winters are cheaper on Mytyres. I've never once seen anything that's cheapest on Blackcircles, not even if you were paying silly money to have them fitted locally.
Completely agree with this, I have never got Black circles to beat Camskill or Mytyres, I did actually get 2 rears fitted at Quikfit years ago through the "buy online" but never seem to have been competitive any other time, must have been a cheap batch? As for main dealer prices - please!!!

I got four Goodyear tyres from Black Circles for £200

Kwik Fit were charging £128 + VAT for one of the same tyre

It actually amazes me how some PHrs will go to a place just because they are a big name

when they could actually save a few quid

my theory is so they can come on here and tell everyone they've been
Come on, the suspense is killing me biggrin

I got soemthing cheaply and conveniently does not necessarily mean the same story for someone else somewhere else.
My lease company is kwikfit only, I'm sure they get a decent discount for the 50000 tyres they buy a year.

I ordered and had my winters fitted by kwick fit. They were fine and very competitively priced. You should expect to pay more if you don't pre book and just turn up - they cannot manage demand this way and have to carry more stock.

Camskill are sometimes cheaper, Kwikfit are never cheaper though. Replace my black circles suggestions with "well known online retailer of your choosing" if you like.

Number of reasons why it's cheaper:

Guaranteed work for the staff during that slot
Easier to control work flow due to booking system
Less stock has to be held in centre
Easier stock control
Faster turnaround from wholesaler to sale to customer so less money tied up in stock
No risk of having to discount in centre
  • *cynic alert*** Kwik fit sell to fleet/lease companies at a fixed discount against their retail price (they did when I worked there), so I they may inflate their retail price to get better margins on the fleet side of the business ***cynic alert***
Almost everything is cheaper on the internet
The customer is doing some of the work themself by entering their own details, ordering their own stock and making their own appointment, so the staff have a lot less to do. All they do is fit the tyres, enter the fitter on the invoice and enter the mileage as opposed to spending 10/15 minutes entering customer and car details and the customer fumbling around making payment

Additionally, if you google "tyres" kwik fit will come up pretty high. If you aren't happy with the price you will check the competition so they have to discount the price to get a larger share of the market.

Pretty simple really.

Indeed. As with all things you need to check all the prices every time. Twice with my last car Kwik Fit online were the cheapest, just changed some tyres on the wife's car and Blackcircles were the cheapest, but the time prior to that our local inde had the best price. Personally I've never found Camskill the cheapest when factoring the cost of getting them fitted and balanced.

Well in my case I tend to use them because the nearest black-circles affiliated place is about a quarter of a mile from my house. smile

They're not the cheapest, but they're close enough to make the convenience the deciding factor for me.

I'd recommend trying http://www.robinson-tyre-supplies.co.uk/
I've heard you're better off emailing him as the site is new and it's best to email for full availability and prices.

Just what I've heard, like...

My mobile fitter gets me the best price for fronts but can't get close to Camskill for rears.
