Have a look at the neuton tyres from saab specialist neo brothers. They're made by yokohama and heve pretty good reviews. Mine are 225/45 r17 and cost £154 delivered plus £20 fitting. Happy with mine so far!
Found those on the NeoBrothers website (who also seem to be a reasonable Saab specialist) work out same price as the Toyos for the NT8000 but the NT5000 is cheaper still. Much of a difference between the two?

While I have the ear of two Saab drivers, have either of you looked into engine remaps at all?

I haven't done anything with remaps yet; lots of other little (and not so little) jobs to do on it first, although I've looked into the topic a little. SaabNoob's remaps seem to be well received by those that have them and a lot less expensive than the likes of Maptun.

Just out of curiosity, will a 225/45/17 fit on a 7" rim as I am looking to change from 205/50/17? The website quoted earlier in the thread suggests a 7.5 rim.

Thanks

I have had Karl at Noobtune tune my old 9-5 Aero, I definitely recommend.

What about Uniroyal Rainsport 2s? I have had them on my e39 and Puma and think there great.

The Neutrons get very mixed reviews, but the general consensus is that wet grip's poor, dry's OK.

Rainsports will be where our money goes when we next change tyres on our Aero.

Yes, they'll be fine. I have the factory fitted Saab Alu 39 rims which are 7" and run the recommended 225/45/17 tyres

Vredestein Ultrac Sesanta's.

I'm about to change the Run Flats on my Z4 and looked at Toyo's but decided that the Vreds were a little cheaper and reviewed slightly better.

The OP mentioned the price without fitting and in any case, the prices they quote with fitting are higher.
I'd be rather surprised if the price was the same with or without fitting...

Another one for the Kumho KU31 have them on my wifes Hyundai Coupe 215/45 17 size.

Cant comment on longevity, but grip wet and dry seems pretty good.

Hankook V12's are doing well for me - increase in MPG too over my winters (was getting 300 miles per tank, now 350+).

I had my 2003 9-3 SS Aero remapped, gave it a healthy boost for 600 quid, from 210 to 247 alledgedly, the torque went from 210 to 288, initially it stuttered but I regapped the plugs and all was well, apart from the clutch slip, I went from the older 9-3, a 150 lpt to the newer Aero and it didnt feel any faswter, needed the remap to give it an advantage.

Haven't heard a huge amount about Hankook, will be adding these to the shortlist though.

Also - MPG concerns on an S4? :P

Falken seem to be popular for big heavy cars.

We've got Goodyear F1A2s on ours, great tyres but a bit pricier.
