Who gives a toss what other people do with their kids, otherwise they'd all be the same. Just use the 50% rule - 50% of the population are above average and 50% below - end of argument.

Would you turn a blind eye to a mum/dad beating their kid up? Passive smoking doesn't show any instant effects so does this make it ok to potentially give our/their kids cancer?

Most drug addicts just care about their own selfish needs and screw consideration of others, even their loved ones.

That said it's none of my fecking business so I just keep my nose out and let them get on with fking up their and their families lives.

Same for alcohol and other drugs.
Ridiculous over-reaction. I wouldn't smoke in my car if there was someone else there unless they were a smoker too because it's just basic courtesy.

I did once get told by a parent that I wasn't allowed to smoke for four hours before I came to their house in case their baby was affected by it. The baby would have been in bed by the time I got there and I would have had no contact with it.

I actually saw it the other day too for the first time in years. One of those double cab pickups. Mum in front smoking and kids in back. I was disgusted.

When I smoked at home I would go out the back, when driving I would have to pull over and get out.

Obviously there are exceptions. Not everything is 100% guaranteed.

I stand by my statement.
Parents are role models for their kids.
If kids witness/suspect their parents smoke.
They are more likely to smoke.

I am another exception, neither my mum or dad smoked but I did.

Both parents chain smoked, both myself and sister have never smoked, plus being around smoking parents, in the days when there was no stigma attached to smoking, has had no ill effects on either mine or my sister's health................so far!

It's also the ash that I was thinking of let alone the smoke. My friend who smokes back seat is always covered in ash.

Not really arsed.

My dad has always smoked in the car ever since I was a kid and i've turned out alright, just another thing for people to fking moan and complain about, 30 years ago noone would have batted an eyelid at so many things that these days apparantly are disgraceful behaviour.

People just like to fking moan, the world is H&S mad and there is an increasing number of people who just like to stick their fking noses in other peoples lives.

Yes, yes I do.

Have no idea why it's an 'over reaction' though, I couldn't care less what people do to fk up their health or that of their families as it's none of my business.

Exact opposite of an over reaction- do whatever the fk you like as long as it doesn't impact on me or my loved ones.

Edit to add: re: the pint of guinness if you'd been on an all day vodka bender with him and the kids just happened to get some 'secondary' vodka you'd possibly have a point.

Most smokers are drug addicts, they can't give it up.

Might be something in this, my mum smoked and I decided early on I hated smoking, i.e. can go one way or the other, regardless of what your parents do.
