Isn't the misty blue that slightly off-white colour? I quite like that tongue out
Yes it is, I think in normal light it looks alright but when it's sunny then it looks a bit 'baby blue' to me
Can't really tell from pics on google http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=volvo+v40+misty+b...

Am I missing something here?
First you say its almost the same price, but then say its a 6k saving.
Which is it?
Is it only a 6k saving due to its spec being better?
If so, as those items are not what you specced on yours originally, its not a saving is it?
It would only be a saving if it was 6k cheaper than the one you specced.

Personally, I'd stick with what you originally wanted, remember you did order it like that for a reason! wink
Sorry, I wasn't clear. The model that I'd order is a moderate spec but in any colour I want. The model offered is way over the spec the I'd order but has all the stuff that is useful/desirable but pushes it a I've what I'd normally pay.
They're offering the better specced car at the same price as the car I'd ordinarily order. The difference between the list prices is £6k

Spec/mileage/condition is more important.
Can see what you mean about the colour though

I looked at ten or so m3s before i bought mine, really wanted silver, dark grey or dark blue. I ended up with estoril as it was the healthiest car for the best price.

Ive hated it ever since. Love the car but the colour taunts me every time i look at it.
Estroil is the bestest colour in all the world for the E36 M3!!!1111

I wouldn't. Crap colours are crap colours. Wraps and resprays are bad news for resale because at best the colour doesn't match the V5 and at worst you look like an idiot who's trying to hide damage. Probably the reason the dealer is offering it at thay price is to get rid of it ASAP. A saving is well and good but it's still a lot to spend on something you don't like.

Well I bought a brown car, so no, colour doesn't really matter to me! Of course it was a period colour, so I might have got away with it there...

I like it, it's unusual. A change from the usual VAG/BMW options out there but I know what you mean, it's a bit 'marmite'.

I also considered the Golf Mk7 but the interior was dreary and the exterior is a bit dull.

Colour is very important to me.
I hate silver, white, dull red and dull blue colour cars

I love black, orange and dark purple.

As such if the perfect car was silver, I would get it resprayed or wrapped....as I did before. Bought a silver Pajero several years ago and had it resprayed Maserati Pearl Black.

I know, that's what everyone says about them. It's just a bit showy for my liking. Still, should help if i ever sell it.

Out of interest (not sure I'd bother) but how much would it cost to wrap a car like the V40?

So its not a saving then, stating the obvious here but youve got to choose if you want the extra spec or better colour.
Personally I quite like the blue in question, but it depends on if you can handle seeing it every day.
Is the extra spec stuff you are every likely to use? Was there a reason you didn't order them in the first place for the car you originally wanted to buy?
If you think you could live with the colour, how about seeing if they would sell it a bit cheaper still to help seal the deal?

So you are not saving any money at all and in return will be getting a colour you don't want? The answer here is obvious.

I wouldn't order the extra bits because of the cost, they're useful but not essential.

You're right, it's not a saving vs the car I would order but a saving on list price.

Basically, the higher specced car is an SE Lux (instead of an SE) and has panoramic sunroof (I wouldn't order this), sat nav (useful but too expensive), DAB, upgraded sound system and automatic parking (useful but I wouldn't order it)

There's a few colours that I would never buy (silver and grey being the main ones) but other than that, I don't particularly care.

If you change your cars colour you're obliged to change the V5. Im not aware it shows any record of previous colours, just the current one so thats irrelevant.

At a guess, I'd say between £1500-2k. OP, I'd rather pocket the 6k, you'll be getting a better specced car, and the 'misty blue' don't look that bad (in my eyes, at least). If the colour does bother you that much, and you can get a decent quote to get it wrapped (under 2k), then go for it.
