The black tie wrap doesn't look BMW issue to me! The noise could be whatever it is holding moving around.

Apologies for slightly late reply, it is the bit just to the right of that with the pointy bit pointing up I was meaning. Just noticed the tie wrap as well, hadn't noticed that before! ![](http://thumbsnap.com/sc/M4n9CuJi.jpg)
I have run the car for a year and a bit and circa 15k, could a bodged repair really have held that long?
Trying to get in touch with the local BMW specialist to take a look but no luck so far!
What on earth could that tie wrap be holding?

Also worth noting I was doing about 10 mph down Union Street in Aberdeen when the bang happend - hardly hooning territory! The car has a fairly easy life, 95% of my driving is on A roads / motorways and I don't drive it that hard. Certainly no harder than my previous cars and they have all coped fine!

Is a Golf GTi not a worthy 130 comparator. Also, an E9X 330.
Not really, no. I'd say the R32 is a more equal comparator, but even then, the 130 is a better steer. I just happen to think the R32 looks cooler.E9x 330i is an interesting wildcard though.

Even lefter field choice a Volvo V50 T5. They do straight line poke quite well but not sure how they steer.
Scope creep in extrimis. The man needs a nice, tidy E46 M3. Dog goes in front footwell (my Lab has spent half its life secured thus), leaving the back for child seat.
What about a little something to spice up your Puma Olly?

The 1'er (orthopaedic shoe - Trommel), isn't something I could get passionate about.
