That car is absolutely stunning - please make that Jaguar. Just put a enlarged 6 or 7 litre version of the supercharged 5 litre under the hood, and stick it on sale at 200k

I want a Jaguar that looks like a Jaguar! The F-type is spot on, the XF is nowhere near.
That running gear in an old XJ or S-type shell I would sell my soul to the devil for
I disagree. Jaguar are doing well financially. The only reason for their success is that they have moved on. If they were still churning out cars that looked "classic" then i believe the company would have gone under by now. That running gear in an old XJ or S-type shell I would sell my soul to the devil for
There isnt a single Jaguar in the range that i wouldnt long to own. That cant be said for many other brands.
I think the last paragraph in the report says it all 'getting old'. I don't suggest for a minute that I'm able to afford an R-S, but as someone turning 30 in 18 months I can assure you I WANT one. Surely that is the point behind this car, the youthful rebranding of Jaguar, making it a car that young people want again. It's a fantastic Halo car and Jaguar are being incredibly sensible with sales figures, no the target market might not be 30 something's but it might make those people look at a suitably spec'd diesel rather than an M-Sport 320d.
For what it is, it's truly wonderful.

Jaguar can't get away with charging that kind of money for a car with the fit, finish, quality of the XF. Cool it may be, but it just doesn't quite stack.
Mine must be better than yours then. I feel mine is way better indide than rhan any Audi or BMW I've owned. Yes rhe sat-nav is slow, but I rarely use mine, so no probs. Benbay001 said:

I wanted to like this car but however fast it is, what's the point in a two tonne barge with a rubbish ride and refinement?
Really? Okay, I haven't driven the R-S but rubbish ride and refinement???Can't fault mine for either to be honest, Jag are on a roll and I will be having the new XF in a couple of years.

The F-type is actually designed to be a modern day E-type, just like the S-type was in it's day. There isn't a single Jaguar in the range that I wouldn't long to own. That cant be said for many other brands.
Have to agree though, Jaguar were struggling with an old-man's image and needed to change. The XF despite its ordinary looks appealed to more people, just not me. That's ok though, I can buy an older one for next to nothing and wait for the F-type to become more affordable to me
Here's my problem with the car industry...
BMW, Audi, Merc, Porsche,Ferrari, Lambo and who ever else, have been making good/great/fantastic cars for so long, they have become the normal, nothing wrong with that. Then when someone else comes up with a great car, equal or better, it's instantly compared too the previous, ok that's fine, that's who they are competing with. That's the problem. These motoring journalists have been driving these cars for so long, so hard on track/road, everything comes down to what they are USED to... If it differs from that experience, BANG the car is instantly not as good. Or out come the complaints, oh but if this, oh but if that, utter rubbish... You see it on Top Gear about Ferrari and Porsche, or Manual vs DSG/flappy Paddles.

As on the XJR we drove on the same launch (full story soon), the bespoke Pirelli P Zeros are very sensitive to road surface changes in terms of noise. Also, if you were being polite you'd say the ride was fidgety and if you weren't at times it's verging on unbearable. Cat's eyes crash through the cabin and you feel every expansion strip. Make no mistake, it's so firm it sometimes makes an Audi feel compliant.
The car gets a very favourable review in EVO, which I am more likely to believe to be honest. They say the ride is firm at low speeds but improves as you press on. I love the car and love all that Jaguar and LR are doing of late..far more desirable to these eyes than the equivalent German.

The ride is also praised in Jalopnik's review. www.jalopnik.com Odd that it's polarising opinion so muchSpookedmoose said:

Not really sure what the issue, BMWs and Audis do not always ride properly TBH.
Sporty BMWs and Audis very rarely ride properly, in my experience, but that doesn't really give Jaguar an excuse to do the same. Strange to see other reviews praising the ride quality, though. Maybe different options?
