Get a bank loan and repair the NSX, interest rates are low and the (almost) guaranteed rise in future values will cover the interest.

I forgot to add that, I use the NSX as a daily driver and I do some substantial mileage with work which I can occasionally use a company pool vehicle for but not always and I'd rather not use the NSX for commuting 100 miles or so for meetings.

My biggest problem is one that we probably all share, I have petrol running through veins and struggle to drive something normal/sensible...

I'll echo what others have said - buy something cheap but tolerable to keep you mobile until the NSX is fixed, you'll lose more if you sell a broken car and it sounds like you would regret letting it go.

You couldn't lower yourself to a £2,000 diesel snotter (old Golf or something) just whilst you got the NSX rebuilt? It would seem the most logical thing to do if you love the NSX so much.

Brave!

£1.5k on a 1.9TDI VAG of some description, and rebuild the NSX for the weekend.

You can get a decent mk2 mr2 for around 1.5-2k. Or a turbo for a little more. These cars are ridiculously reliable and so much fun. And a similar layout/drivetrain to your NSX, with the noises coming from all the right places!

You will regret getting rid of the NSX....another one in the future will cost so much more.
Fix it and suffer a downgrade in the interim!!
Ask for help to source part from the NSX club.

Yeah, get rid of the NSX. Then in about June next year I'll resurrect this thread and ask if you regret selling it.

I wondering why someone with a car which - even if it's worn and needs engine work - has to be worth £15K, is talking about buying a car worth just a few grand and not wanting to spend the same on their car as-is!?

When your engine went bang you lost the cost of the rebuild - give or take - no way to get that back (unless you fill the engine with thick oil and find a mug perhaps) so it's not the time to lose your nerve (or if you're really skint, it's time to realise you just gambled and lost a lot of money - sadly - and it's not the time to gamble again esp. on a 'Chrysler era' MB?)

driven a few high performance cars, but still smile when I jump in my friends Clio 172 Cup. It cost him £1500 and has so far served him well for over 2 years.

Get a Civic or Accord runabout, they cost almost nothing in servicing and are seriously unlikely to break and with all that you save repair the NSX.

Please, please repair it smile

Because if anyone read his replies they'd see he still has the NSX and is looking at what it needs but as it's his daily driver he needs something else NOW.

OP - you really need to go to a specialist - NOT Honda.

The specific forums are the best source of info.

In the meantime I suggest an E36 M3 would be a good car and likely generate smaller bills than the C36
