Someone talk me out of this, please....
Right, I thought it looked familiar so I checked. It has been for sale on Turbosport (cars for sale, page 5) a couple of times recently, the second with a number of negative comments about the quality of work (subjective and not my opinion nor one I could vouch for). It has also been the subject of one, or more, fake/scam ebay listings.

Obviously you'd have checked it all out and discovered if everything is or isn't above board, to what level of quality the work was carried out and whether or not the car is for you is a decision that only you can make with the facts as you ascertain and regard them. It is entirely possible that you may have a lovely weekend in Ireland going to look at it and come back with something that may need a bit of work but of the sort you're capable of doing/getting done cheaply enough to make it worthwhile and you both live happily ever after.

I saw a Mk 2 RS2000 on ebay for £4500 on Sunday. By the time I'd reasoned that even if it wasn't a real one and didn't have a floor, it was worth that, and decided to tell Mrs the hat that I was having it, it'd gone. I'm hoping it was a scam and not someone who didn't know what they had. Or it was a fake with no floor.

Cheers, Jim

Edited to add that the sellers on Turbosport were/are apparently genuine. The first wanted £6.5k, claiming £5k of bits and the second £4k.

Buy it, or I will
What he said!!

I've been looking at Mk1 & MK2 for ages now... never going to get my head around the price boom - but having seen the asking price of some right rot boxes - this one looks great!

I know I'm never going to own an original mexico / twin cam or RS2000 - so why not go for something a bit less original and a bit more fun - just like this one.

Lots of Zetec conversions about too.

I was quite careful to not say it was a dog/scam just that others might have said so. wink

A chap here had his Mk 2 Mexico in the other day. He bought it as something he could use as his Mk1 Mex is going to be a bit of a Princess. He paid £14k. After a bit of work it's been valued at £18k. Utter, utter madness. As well as the motivation for many a lucky-dip.

Cheers, Jim
