What's the modern day Fiat Coupe?
Discussion
Most of the suggestions seem to miss the Fiat's USPs - so let's just check those
1 - bloody fast - MUCH faster than you'd imagine it to be
2 - room for 4 adults
3 - unique looks
4 - easy to drive and comfy - good place to be when you're NOT in a hurry!!
A lot of the suggestions are cars which are only decent when you're pushing-on and cars which I'd not want to sit in for 2-3 hours either!!

In that case (seats aside) that sounds very much like a 350Z to me!
So long as you can afford to fill it up with fuel frequently!

Bit different/interesting - I'd say so.
Good engine that makes a great noise - Most definitely
Not made of cheese - It's made of metal!

Dad has had multiple 944's and they (and any Porsche/VW for that matter) has just not been my thing. They do very little for me. http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

I seem to have an odd quirk for badly built Italian/British cars.
That Alfa GT is looking mighty tempting, always fancied that 3.2 V6

That's not a car it's a financial blackhole - a <£6K 928 will be a nightmare, the worst bit of which is that it MIGHT work long enough to trick you into thinking it's not...http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/p...

They were never cheap cars to run at the best of times - Porsche treat them as 'above' 911s in that respect and they really do have some eye-wateringly expensive bits...

That's a shame, I suppose the front engined Porkers are a bit of a marmite car I seem to have an odd quirk for badly built Italian/British cars.

If you like the look of the Alfa go for it! You don't seem them often enough sadly, the 3.2 V6 does sound lovely though (especially with a Ragazzon exhaust)

I've had a very nice Fiat Coupe 20vt plus for 7 years and was in near mint condition, so I know what you mean. It's actually very hard to replace if you want something similar. Something like a Celica 190 or a Integra Type-r doesn't have the same amount of grunt (torque) and isn't as stylish (in my eyes). I've considered several cars when I replaced mine and the one that comes closest is the Alfa GT 3.2. The driving position, gear change, brakes and steering feel are very similar. The 3.2 is a lovely engine, even more effortless than the 5 pot in the coupe. Doesn't feel as fast though.
To me it actually felt too similar in many ways and I eventually changed to something very different (S2000). I still miss the 5 pot engine at times and the Fiat was a great GT car!

£6k will buy you a very nice, very well-sorted Fiat Coupe! There are some adverts out there where people are, frankly, pissing in the wind with their prices but there are also some very good cars for sale.
Mine (which is a very nice and very well-sorted garage princess, but not for sale!) did 2000 miles down to Turin, Milan and Lake Garda, back via the Stelvio, without incident this year.
