Not cars as such but these were my favourites (apart from the 007 DB5):

Don't check the prices for this stuff on eBay. Depressing.

I had so many toy cars, lot's of different scales too. No idea where they are now though. My two favourites were a Ferrari 348 and a GMC tow truck, both Matchbox I think and both 1/62 scale.

My pet hate when younger, from a very early age was people mixing the scales. I wouldn't play cars with others as they used to bring out 1/34 scale and 1/43 scale cars and play with them together. Even worse when it was with the 1.62 ones.

Am I weird?
I couldn't mix two different scales, they all had to be the same scale. I mainly had matchbox or corgis. I think there may be a few in my mum's loft still.
My brother used to have a mk1 MR2 with reflective wheels. He repainted it, set fire to it, then left it on the shed roof. It survived there for about 6 years, then I shot it with an air rifle, which damn near split it in two. I think the remains are still on the shed roof, I will have a look and post pictures if so.

I've got a huge box of Micro Machines complete with City toolbox thing and loads of mini buildings and stuff - Hoping my Girls will get some enjoyment out of them when they're a bit older... I'll obviously be joining the games when they decide to start racing them around ;-)

No - I was the same & my son is the same. My missus doesn't really understand this & neither me or my son can explain it to herlaugh

To her eyes, they are all cars, or dinosaurs or whatever. To my & my sons eyes, it's just wrong. Very wrong.

Anything from Captain Scarlet or a SPV was an epic toy as were the Thunderbird ones the pink RR with missiles front and back. I may need to visit the attic and dig out whats up there.....loved the Starskey and Hutch Grand Torino and the James Bond Lotus Esprit!

My little brother mixes the scales. He's 8 and I'm not 22. It still annoys me. hehe

Ah but the Torino didn't 'do' anything. I always liked the models with lots of features and the TV themed ones were good for this. I was however gutted with my Kojak car with the 'realistic gun shot' noise which was actually just a clicky wheel in the back bumper. I also liked the Matchbox Rolamatics which caused something to move as you pushed it along (e.g. Pistons in the engine block or a lion in the back of a pick up)

Anyone remember what I think was a DeTomaso Pantera which you could take off the body and have a rolling chassis .

I was another one that didnt like mixing the scales of cars, However a James Bond Racing a TR7 was perfectly normal.

My favourites were a couple of the big "Burago" type ones, I got them for my birthday one year a Red 308 GTB and a Blue 911 of some sort, fantastic, opening everything. The thing is my mum hid them before my birthday in the top of my wardrobe where she kept blankets and stuff, for some reason I was rooting round and discovered them some weeks before my birthday, so when they were out of the way I got them down and got them out and had a good old test drive and then put them back, in somethign of a hurry when I heard them return.

I didnt think anything of it until my birthday and I got presented with them and tried to look suprised, my cousin pointed out loudly that the first one I unwrapped wasnt a Porsche like it said on the box, it was a Ferrari which my mum checked and sure enough I had put them back in the wrong boxes, my mum was wondering if she had bought the wrong ones or something and then I opened the Ferrari (in A Porsche box) and she put two and two together, she didnt dwell on it but I was squirming like mad.

I'd love that. My granddad was an engineer for Coles Cranes & designed a lot of the mechanical bits. As a kid he'd take me to see what he was working on - it was fascinating, even though I had no idea what it was he was telling me! He died a couple of years ago & when we tidied his garage out for my Nan (she was never really allowed in there!) there was Coles stuff he'd brought home with him when it shut down. Unfortunately, some of my idiot family got involved & they skipped it all.

There was an auction I was at not too long ago & there was a Coles Yard Crane as one of the lots. Was very tempted to have a bid, just not sure where I'd hide a 20 ton tracked crane from the OHsmile

Lots of memories on this thread - wish I was 5 againfrown

I destroyed all of my matchbox cars in the late 80s when i discovered how much fun the summer sun combined with a large magnifying glass can be. The only one to survive was a Corgi Sierra XR41.

I "created" MadMax style cars from my Matchbox cars.

Put them in dad's vice in the shed, compress a bit, throw away body and glue random

bits back onto what's left.

And then throw away when you grow up a bit.

Through the power of Ebay and a few other ways i have now collected 185 Matchbox RS2000s.

I will try and find a pic.
