RE: Porsche updates 918 performance stats

I wish ferrari would release something about their hyper car.
They have. They revised the numbers the other day. Up from €1million. It is now going to cost €1.3million As nice as the Porsche is I agree with the above, to me the family 'look' is way too strong. It does indeed look like a gentle 'evolution' of the boxster/carrera GT.
The P1 on the other hand looks like a complete 'revolution'. I also think the P1 is far less clinical than the Porsche. Having 'push to pass' and 'DRS' buttons on a car with so much power... Now that is a sense of humour!!
To me the P1 is the top of the pile and the the Ferrari at the bottom. This is smack in the middle.

It's quite pretty but hardly blazing a trail is it? i would put money on the 918 being even faster than their quoted acceleration times , porsche always seem to do it , state conservative figures so they can exceed expectations and appear the underdog .I also think the 918 will have over 900 bhp rather than 875 , still prefer the p1 though.
Big deal, who cares.
I used to love supercars.
Sadly, they have become increasingly irrelevant dinosaurs and so I'm reverting to older cars.
I recently sold my 997 GT3 CS for a 1974 911 RS 3.0 replica (980 Kg, 240BHP).
I'm happy about the switch.
Encouraged down this path, I have also just bought a 1968 Fiat Dino Spider 2.0L (160BHP, 1100Kg, 8000rpm!).
You need the convenience of a modern car too of course (I have an E92 M3) but for sunny-day blasts these old cars are much more engaging and satisfying drivers cars.
Fun matters.

I just want to see Clarkson in the TheFerrari, May in the P1, and Hammond in the 918!
Personally, I think the 918 looks the best. It's an evolution of the Carrera GT's styling, which was easily the best looking supercar of the previous generation. The Macca looks awesome, in that it looks like something from the 24th century (or another planet), but it isn't conventionally beautiful (and the front looks like a frog). The "The" is also evolutionary, taking styling cues from the Enzo, Mille-Chile concept, and, most notably, Jim Glickenhaus' P4/5 road and race cars. However, the end result is, IMO, a bit OTT, particularly the massive, pointy "beak".

I'd agree with you that the old cars are more fun in the real world (unless you have access to Nardo, or something). However, I'm glad that these manufacturers are still pushing the boundaries of style and performance. Though I'll probably never drive one, I find it exciting that they're being made, and can't wait to see/hear them in-person (I have a pretty good chance at seeing one or all of them where I live). Out of curiosity, what is a GT3 CS? Or did you miss-type and mean RS?

Well, I'm immune to the 911 shapes, but the 918 has references but isn't so sci-fi looking to be OTT. And in the Martini colourway, it's especially appealing. The P1, I'm looking forward to seeing in the flesh. In photos it does look a bit challenging to love (headlamps, rear end busy-ness, etc).

I think it is by far and away the best looking to the current 3 hypercars. CraigyMc said:
It'd be nice if Porsche did a release explaining what they've done.
Anyone know if one exists?
ETA: Found it. VW group's website, obviously (!)

It's a very good all round package . The fact that it has every mod con , is comfy and is a cabrio yet is such a weapon on track is very impressive I reckon .
