You are a miserable bunch...as are the people laughing at him in the video.

It's the problem with the people in this country - always happy to see someone elses misfortune doing something unbelievably stupid.
More like it.

Heres a RRS "doin it properly" - http://youtu.be/CkVw9OMaCI4
The RRS was getting around that course whilst towing a Vitara. Pretty damned impressive I think.

Apart from the open window, any idea why it ended up full of muddy water? I know Defenders etc don't have door seals but there's no reason an RRS should fill up just because its sat in a puddle for a while.

So, is one to deduce that if you want to have a go at offroading, unless you drive an old battered 4x4 you will be mobbed by braying nerds everytime you make a mistake?

You'll be laughed at no matter what you turn up in - as long as you make a mistake!

Just like driving a Lambo or Ferrari round a city I guess. Everyones' just dying inside for you to stall it or crash it. No different to people going to airshows hoping to see someone crash & be killed really.

Depends where you go probably. Certainly if you turn up in an expensive vehicle (be it quite new or extensively modified) then more people will want to see what it can do or see if it gets stuck. Consequently if there is a mistake then more people will be there to laugh / lend a hand / whatever.

I wanted to know the same thing. I've seen pictures of these with water half way up the doors but they stay totally dry inside.

This, someone always ready to draw the boot into you if you make a mistake.
Regardless if it's an old shed or a brand new one.

"All that technology and still gets stuck" etc.

With proper tyres they are very good, same chassis, transmission and TR system as the Disco3.
You need a set of off road tyres for them and they are hugely capable. Shame 99.9% of them will never be used off road.
+1

Tyres, Tyres, Tyres.

I know a guy who put some of those daft Insa Turbo mud tyres on his otherwise standard Sport and it was hilariously unstoppable off road smile

LOL a range rover not being good offroad, they can go pretty much anywhere that a defender can, and often places they cant since the electrics keep you going rather than brute force and like a defender.

Defender more fun though, and much cheaper to fix if you stuff up, but nothing better than seeing a range rover or disco offroading, Land Rover spent a lot of time making them capable todo it

It's great seeing a RR being used offroad by someone who knows what they're doing. Unlike the guy in the video!

Expecting to be able to get through that kind of terrain on standard road tyres goes beyond a "mistake", it's plain stupidity.

I don't know about door seals on any Land Rover model but normal car doorseals do NOT

keep flood water out.

I tried to drown a Fiesta RST in 1995,not intentionally.....biggrin

probably thought momentum was his friend so ploughed into the bog at speed and the bow wave went over the wing mirrors.

Joshua Smiths comment is the worst bit. "I guess they are pretty useless 4x4's then" and then he calls them "gangsta"
Dear oh dear calling a range rover useless!!

I don't think that much water would have gone inside through a bow wave .nono
