When I first saw one of these in the flesh a good few years ago I was struck by how much plastic there was strewn around the front; grille, lights, emblem etc - it looked cheaper than it should. Maybe things have improved, I haven't looked since (it's not like I can afford one anyway).

Or you could buy a Quattroporte and get a back seat as well...

Wonderful cars, one of the very best sounding engines on the road and definitely one of the best looking cars.

Ive driven a few of the previous generation Stradale, amazing drive, could do with having a bit more power though I think, 500 bhp would do it nicely.

I notice its compared to a DB9 in the article, the Aston doesn't even come close to it in any area IMO. Looks, quality, interior, sound, the Strad has it licked in every department.

I don't get the Stradale. The Granturismo is a, well for want of a better description, a grand tourer... Fitting it with a clunky gearbox, a bonnet snout and that chavvy rear diffuser thing is like putting Penelope Cruz in some cheap underwear from La Senza and thinking it adds to the experience. Shame. If you want a sports car, there are plenty available.

I've got the Auto 4.7 and love it. It is a bit big for some roads but most modern cars are too wide in any case. I understand why some people would prefer the automated manual in my car or the Stradale but mine works fine for me, put the gears in manual and the dampers/throttle in sport and it does a decent job.

PS The GT Sport has a much more aggressive steering rack which I am told makes the car drive very differently. Depends on your preference.

Is it just me or does the F-Type R now make this look a little silly? It offers more power, an equally great noise and even better looks for substantially less cash.

Ah so it was you with this at Goodwood for the mission motorsport day with the child seat in the back smile I thought you may be turning up when I was told my place had been taken by someone at ph, was expecting your Mx5 so this was a nice surprise to see!

You can argue that!

FWIW most of us in Maserati are here as we need the back seats.

As would I.

But the Maserati remains a lovely thing. It touches different buttons.

That really is a beautiful thing, not many cars with 4 seats that I'd rather have, though if rear seats weren't a consideration if take the F-type R over this
