If you packed right you could get 38 crates of larger and 16 cases of wine in a G plate 1.8l with room for a driver and passenger

But the speed bumps at Dover dock were not kind to the underside with all that weight on board and the climb up from the docks was a bit of an effort

There is a Sierra 2.0i Ghia estate on Jersey - was owned by my sister-in-law and recently sold (replaced by an ex-demo Skoda Rapid 1.6TDi - a diesel on Jersey!). Over 20 years old and less than 60K miles.

These days the Sierra in general is getting rare, but the estate (in any form) is pretty much extinct.

On eBay, AT, & carandclassic combined there is one estate for sale in the UK!
Couple on gumtree as well ( different than the J reg Chasseur on AT )

After riding in a 2.8 Ghia 4x4 estate when I was about 5 years old I always wanted one - but they were pretty much extinct by the time I passed my test in 1996! Strangely I saw one in white only the other day and it looked great!!

Not an estate, but I looked at a XR4i once and really, really wanted it. Took it out for a test drive, got back and found the indicator had fell out. I took this as a sign of things to come so walked away.
Really rolleyes
Never heard of a more pathetic reason for not buying a car.

I hate threads like this I've just been looking on ebay at P100 pickups and rover 800 coupes.. I even put a cheeky 250 bid on a manual 800 turbo coupe, thankfully outbid lol

Estates don't seem to last as long, maybe they have a harder life.

Never see many Sierras of any sort these days, probably see more P100's than hatches these days.

OP starts a thread mourning the loss of Sierra's. People immediately start saying you should buy an X Y or Z type car.

Come......................on. Are people really that thick?
hehe

It would appear so!
I was just going to ask that.

I have fond memories of my Sierra, a 1.8 GL which when I was 18 was massive compared to what my mates all drove and that 1.8CVH lump felt like it could take on the world especially in a car shod with cheap tyres and RWD biggrin

I am surprised no one has blames kit cars yet, used to be, buy a Sierra and strip for Drivetrain and Engine etc and way in the rest.

My grandad had a Sapphire in Red that when like the clappers, great bit of kit, until my uncle wrapped it around a tree!

Still see the odd few round and about, the competitor that seems to have vanished is the first of the fwd Cavaliers, the shape from Y-reg to F-reg. The more rounded replacement Cavalier ( F-reg to N-reg )is still around in numbers

Four on Autoscout24.de.

One is a minty mint late pre-facelift Laser (mid-86); one is an early spec facelift (89); one is a late special edition (equivalent to our Chasseur, I'd say) from '92.

But the best one has to be this (not technically an estate, perhaps):

Yup, an actual Sierra hearse.

Old 'White goods' cars never survive that long after they end production. I had two Sierras when I was younger and I do have a soft spot for them, but I doubt i'd ever buy another one, not even a Cosworth.

I have a soft spot for them as Dad had them when I passed my test. Spoiled me for what I could afford to buy or insure when I left home but good while it lasted. He had 2 of the 2.0l ghia hatchback and 1 of the 2.0l ghia estate and I much preferred the hatchbacks. They would slide progressively whereas the estate every now and again would really snap the back out.

The 2CV I bought after uni was something of a let down wink
