It just looks green in the stripped pics and grey in the flood.
Ahh ok see what your saying now,
A friend of mine had his brooklands 280 stripped to a bear shell in his own garage while he slept a fair few years ago
Surprising the lengths some will go to mad

Oh fk me I didn't expect there to that little left!
How do you get the panels off without damaging the thing and ruining them?

It gets interesting when you start looking for used 2012 audi a5/s5/rs5 bits on ebay. Not saying its suspicious but i'd not be suprised if bits like this start cropping up...

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/AUDI-A5-S5-RS5-AIRBAG-KI...

Just noticed the distance from Chertsey to Bagshot. If I was the police I'd pay them a visit to make sure.

Believe it entirely, seen many similar thefts.

Audi RS parts are high target for thieves so one that is seemingly abandoned on a dark flooded road would be an easy target.
The stripping is very believable, the fact that a £60k car can be left abandoned for a month seems most odd. This almost gives credibility to Dokic finding a Tuscan in a field.
Not entirely, considering the time of year and other vehicles being stranded the recovery company may not have been able to recover immediately.
The recovery agents may wish to have waited for the waters to receed before they collected the car.

The insurers would have known where the car was and based on images of it may have deemed a TL without the need to inspect so may have dealt with the claim and then followed up on the recovery.
Although in this case it seems to have bitten them in the bum as the car has been stripped.

Either way without all the facts it's hard to say why it was left for that time frame but I have seen it happen.

I don't know which is more unbelievable, the owner for leaving it abandoned like that or the criminals for stripping it down to the bare shell. Absolutely mental! Worse than that story the other day about the new Corsa that had its front end stolen whilst parked outside a station.

I'm pretty sure it'll be the insurance company not the owner who left it there for such a long time.

My overly suspicious guess would be:

Owner drives into into flood water. Sucks in water. Engine evidently dead. Water coming in through the doors as well. Gets out wades to safety. Then thinks "fk that won't be covered by warranty" I'll say it got nicked. And walk home. Then the insurance can give me a nice new one.

wink

Surely writing the car off like that would be covered under a fully comp policy?

I bet twenty odd years ago a quattro probably wouldnt have suffered the same fate, as has been mentioned, Cosworth, yes, definitely and I am not saying our fair isle has got more law abiding, it hasn't but Audis werent on the radar for those that would chop them up for bits quite the same, Audis used to be company cars and professionals, pretty rare really but now they are definitely aspirational for the thieving classes.

A proper blast from PH's past, had completely forgotten about that. hehe

Was that the "gushing fool" thing or was that another?

Do any of the Dokic threads still exist?
