Yet again, as with every generation of M3 in which a 4-door was made, it's the better looking option.
Totally don't agree with this... either way they should have kept the badging the other way round, seems a shame!

Can't wait to see one, atm I'm not totally convinced. I just love the 1M & E92 so much, but, it does look properly wide and purposeful! Lovely.
Obviously beauty in the eye and all that but this to me is the first decent looking 4 door M3 they have made. The rest just looked like after thoughts with the car not suiting the bigger track etc in the 4 door shell.

I have to agree the 4 dr trumps the coupe for me this time round.

It might rev to 7600 but peak power is at 5500rpm so guess it reaches for an inhaler after that. It will be a whole different dynamic to drive.

Just want these to start being delivered, and kick E90 values so that I can buy one!

How can adding two large doors, increasing roof height and making the windscreen more vertical make a car better looking??

Road and Track: "It sounds more like a tuned diesel engine than the heart of a pedigreed motorsport product."

Oh no! Glad I traded my e92 M3 for a n.a. flat 6.

Reviews don't typically review long term, exaggerate issues or miss the point of the car. Two examples that spring to mind:

>EVO review of the previous generation Audi S8, which to me seemed to criticise a big barge for being a big barge.

> Various Audi suspension complaints. No idea what the issue is, I've been in an RS4, A5 S-line, A3s of various sorts and I've never felt the ride to be uncomfortable.
Well it's not easy sometimes to criticise competent new cars. I mean with the S8 customers will buy it because it's bigger than an S6 or S4 so buyers don't care that much about weight or they would buy the smaller model.

The ride on some S-line Audis wasn't great but neither is the ride on some M-sport BMWs (with run flats especially) so it's not just Audi that has that a mediocre low speed ride. Mercedes ride quality never seems to get as much criticism but then the equivalent Mercedes doesn't seem to have the handling precision of a BMW. Therefore you must decide what's more important. smile

About the new M3. I like the genuine weight reduction it's quite good and I think it's about the same as an E46 M3.
I'm sure people will 'miss' the V8 M3 for the same reason as people 'miss' the V10 M5. Those revvy supercar-esque engines sounded great and probably had more character. However this is the best turbo six BMW can make right now with loads of torque and much better fuel economy. I'm sure it will still be good even if it's not got the nice noise of the old car as people seemed to like the similar 1M coupe.

It doesn't. And to be fair, BMW have chosen the absolute worst color for that M4. I know it's subjective, but IMO it's a horrible color.

If you like being a taxi and regularly have people in the back, then the M3 is for you. Personally, I'd take the M4, but absolutely not in that color.

I was actually in a 4 series yesterday, the room in the back is pretty good, especially the head room...

If it has similar characteristics to the V8 in my M5, there is no let up and it smashes into the rev limiter.

Well I reckon it looks great, Its funny how every other generation of M3 I really Like. I.e. Loved the E30, E36 less so, loved the E46, didn't care for the E90, like this one.

Cant afford a new one, but a second hand E46 is so tempting!

Oooh, manual M3 for me please!
Same. I wonder how many people will go for the manual box.. a tiny amount I imagine.
They will come with the manual gearbox as standard, I don't know how much the DCT will cost, but it will be very interesting to see how many people cough up for the DCT.

Wow- seems like great vslue for money. Hope the parking sensors are a delete option as I always hate how they clutter the bumpers and ruin the look of the front and rear panels.

I'm sure it's all very "impressive" though, sadly, the mandate for efficiency is slowly but surely ruining the nature of performance cars. grumpy
