Bmw 6 series ... Why so cheap?

Not expensive to run at all.It's basically a E60 5 series underneath it all and that has been around for 11 years so the majority of mechanics (even back street ones) will be familiar with them.
The new 5 and 6 series though are much more complicated!
I had a 2006 650i for a few years and it was brilliant. Cost me nothing other than the extended warranty costs and an oil/filter change and a set of non-runflats at £700.
It's bad on fuel as to be expected. I averaged 19mpg over 30000 miles. Some history in my profile.

I almost got round to buying an M6 cab for my wife. We wanted something fast, decent handling and quality and 4 useable seats for our children. The V10 engine appealed a lot although the fuel consumption compared to similar performing competitors is fairly poor - but we could have tolerated that.
The thing is - that for all the appeal of the V10 engine, it's just not an attractive car inside or out. On paper it's brilliant. Only the BMW 6 and the Maseratis are high-end coupes or cabs you can fit children in the back of with enough space to call comfortable or 'long distance capable'. The Maserati GranCabrio is a lot of money and V8s aren't that special IMO, yet for all its V10 soundtrack the M6 just didn't quite prise my money out of my hand. I'm sure it would be a good enough car, but we could never 'love' it if that's the word.
It's a shame. I'd really like to own a V10 but there's not a car that I'm aware of wrapped around a V10 that I'd want to own.

Absolute bargain, only expensive things are the tyres and they like to drink engine oil.

Consumables are manageable because the timing of cost is easier to predict but if the ABS unit or the i-Drive on one of these things goes you are looking at unexpected four-figure expense I would imagine.
Yes, a bork-fund is an alternative but if you are unlucky and something bad happens 2 months into ownership £160 is unlikely to cover the cost.
I am just saying no-one should be under the illusion that a car like this could throw up £60k car bills.
The warranty to me at the price available is worth it just for peace of mind.

Went for XFR-S instead. The M5 would have been the obvious choice but a bit too obvious. I prefer unusual/underdog cars which people invariably can't understand why I chose them Legend83 said:

That's fair enough. It was just an easy tweak of the sentence.I don't think the Bangled Boot had many fans though. And design has moved on. I think the current 4-series coupe is one of the best looking cars in a long time.

I love Bangle's designs. Fiat Coupe, of course, but even his work with BMW was really good. The E60 and E65 are beautiful things. BMW trying to take a slice of the Mercedes Benz super GT-coupe market though, with that honking turd of a 6 series? No thanks, it's just looks dreadful. Legend83 said:

Of course peace of mind can be worthwhile especially for a few months after a private sale, but you would have to have a real dog of a car to get through £1000 worth of warranty work (after the excess) a year. Zero excess is quite a bit more I think, something like £120 a month.
The E6x M cars are totally different so don't let the stories of the SMG failures and all the issues with the electonic wizardry in the M cars put you off.
