Post the URL's for any sites you used to make the transactions and the email addresses.
I bet they have the word pistonheads in it, but are a subdomain eg. pistonheads.buyourcar.co.uk might look genuine at a glance but in reality its just a made up page originating from buyourcar.co.uk

I thought only a fool would fall for these scams. Hardly needs a warning.
Op, you div
I feel bad for you but don't try to blame PH, especially when the same happens on all the top car selling sites.
Also, who gets so excited about a 1.9 diesel that they lose the ability to think rationally?
I predict the OP's next post will be something like:
"Well I thought I was helping everybody but instead people have been downright rude. I'm not a so called "div". No wonder these scams exist. I will never buy another car from piston heads. Please delete my account immediately and stop emailing me with these scam transactions."

Sure there was a thread on here the other day where someone had queried the low asking price of an Alfa.
Indeed there was , I am amazed that anyone would ever transfer money in this situation then get all uppety about some responsibility they perceive PH to have , it is awful that OP has been scammed but seriously what were you thinking ?Busso GTA said:

I initially thought there was a mistake due to the low price
There's your first clue.SlideyJoe said:
The seller claimed to want a quick sale in order to work abroad and that piston heads would handle the sale.
There's number two.SlideyJoe said:
The process was that Piston heads would send me the car for me to review within 48hrs following receipt of my monies into their third party account, after which time I could keep it, they would then send the money on to the seller, or if i changed my mind within this time I could send it back and have my money returned to me.
Seriously? If that doesn't scream scam then I don't know what does.SlideyJoe said:
They told me they are well aware of the scam (amongst others) and that they have a fraud warning on each advert.
That is so ridiculously, obviously, a scam it shouldn't need any sort of warning; it's bloody obvious. Either way, they do have that warning there, it was YOU that missed it.SlideyJoe said:
I guess my enthusiasm for a 'good deal' got the better of me.
So your fault entirely then.In fact, assuming this story is true, which I highly doubt, you're clearly an idiot and deserve to lose your money. Harsh but fair.

fk me. People like you are the reason there are so many scam adverts. You put over 4 grand into a random account because someone sent you an email which they had pasted pistonheads banner images into. Would you hand over 4 grand in cash because someone in a branded T-shirt knocked on your door, showed you a picture of a car and said they'd handle the sale for you?
This. The process was that Piston heads would send me the car for me to review within 48hrs following receipt of my monies into their third party account, after which time I could keep it, they would then send the money on to the seller, or if i changed my mind within this time I could send it back and have my money returned to me. This sounded ok and I felt confident that the process was legitimate
