I would love for you to show us a picture one, because I'm pretty sure the it doesn't exist.
The only other place that engine sat was in the SLK32.
Also fun fact - the C55's front end is derived from a W209 CLK as the W203 couldn't (apparently) accommodate the v8 engine.
This thread at MBWorld would suggest the C32 SportCoupe WAS made, albeit in very small numbers. http://mbworld.org/forums/c32-amg-c55-amg-w203/402...The only other place that engine sat was in the SLK32.

Thread originally also had a lot of pics, but all seem to have expired now.
Pretty useless article in my opinion.
Seems to amount to little more than a list of models with basic powertrain info anyone with access to Wikipedia could obtain.
None of the useful insight into essential or avoidable spec.
None of the potential issues buyers should look for.
Just none of the geeky nuances and details us PHers value and discuss.
I know very little about Merc as a marque having never owned one. Sadly that situation remains much the same having read this 'article'.

My ML55 AMG has 145k on it now, in the last 20k its needed a new steering rack, brake servo and ABS pump bushes. Other than that its been pretty reliable. You use a car so you should expect to have to fix it. Its hilarious to drive, something that big should not go that fast. I imagine its not like the newer AMGs tho because the power is not always usable, it comes on cam over 3500k rpm by which time you will be going some anyway. The gearbox is also pretty lazy and you need to use the tiptronic to keep it in the power or kick down when you want it to. This could be the way they are or it could be a sign of some worn sensors so they may not all be like this!
I like it a lot but I don't love it, my e34 540i was a much better all rounder but thats probably the 4x4 factor, I imagine they've moved on a lot since then.
My car runs LPG so its not that expensive to run, you could always go down that route if you are worried about fuel economy.

Dammit, that really makes my search for a C55 estate not in silver or black much harder now I know there was only 55 of them!
Adore my c55 estate - best car I have ever owned and there is nothing it can't do from track-days to ferrying children & paraphernalia as long as you don't count fuel economy as a priority! Mine is black, I have seen one other (silver) in the last 2 years which was at a Sunday Service - ubiquitous they are not - to the best of my knowledge they only came in 2 colours but I am happy to be correctedLeins said:

The W203 C32 was also available as a hatchback, albeit in limited numbers and LHD only

And of course there's always a (slightly O/T) Brabus, in this case the 400hp 6.1L C-V8:

what about the w201 190E 3.2 Amg and the very rare w202 C55 Amg
I still often think about a car I saw in Car & Classic magazine back in about 2002 - it was one of the features where they pick out a few cars from their classifieds and go take a closer look. It was a 190E that Carlsson had put a 5L V8 in - manual and RHD. Blue, standard looking other than being lowered and with BBS split rim alloys. I wasn't in the market for a car at the time but it seemed like the perfect car for me and I still want it today!

I love the thought of a C63 but couldn't live with the MPG, pity.
Mine has done 25mpg over the last 5k miles, which is fine. Most reliable and easy to abuse car ive owned to date! Looking forward to getting my hands on the new C63S when it arrives.

My M3s only managed an average of 22mpg, and I believe the c63 is worse on fuel, well done on your figure though.
That's seems spot on, I've managed 19.6 mpg average since purchase, and I do a lot of motorway driving, on a sensible long run up the M1 I can see 25-26 mpg which I then spoil completely when I get onto the B roads near home ;-)Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
