RE: Ferrari announces F60America
Discussion
Looks nice enough and all that, but £1.5m? What a bunch of morons to pay that for such a ludicrously overpriced car.
Exactly.

http://www.pistonheads.com/news/default.asp?storyI...300k for brake caliper paint? Really?

Surely you could coachbuild a one-off F12 to exact the same spec for £1m less?
I very much doubt that."for example bespoke paint for brake calipers can cost as much as 300,000 euros (we kid you not)..."

So the engine brakes and suspension are unchanged? For the money their asking I thought this would be some kind of custom build on the F12 platform, like the Lamborghini Veneno. Its more Lamborghini Reventon though, which is a rebodied Murciélago.
The Veneno is also just a different body, same hardware underneath. Or did you mean Sesto Elemento?soad said:
Looks good to me. The only thing I dislike is a name.
Hmmm, reusing the "America" name for a Ferrari built specifically for the American market to celebrate 60 years of Ferrari in America and painted in the North American Racing Team colors?Seems reasonable although they could also have reused "Superamerica"
But, then again, I think it should be the "Ferrari 525 GTS America" to properly reflect it being a real road Ferrari (and not a Dino) and using the traditional displacement per cylinder numbering so perhaps that's what you objected to.

Must be awesome to behold, own and drive (although I'd prefer the interior to be different colours).
The negative comments here seem to be coming from those who will never be able to afford one....
I think an 599 Aperta sold for circa £750 recently. Not sure how much they were going for new but its an awesome looking thing especially in the flesh and will definitely appreciate in value. These will definitely gain in value too. Can't believe some people here need this to be explained to them. Perhaps they need to go back to playing on their PS4s...

I'm fairly sure all the comments are coming from those who will never be able to afford one. I've never understood Ferrari's reluctance to produce V12 spyders. They have no such problem with V8 spyders. They could easily shift a few thousand of these F60s, or a few hundred, or even just a few dozen. Instead they've made ten. And its pretty much always been this way with the twelve-cylinder cars.

So an F12 without a roof - for £1.2m more?
They must be off their fking heads.

Although you are way off price wise, I do agree with you in principle. If I could afford £1.2m, then I would much rather spend (probably more) by going to Zagato and getting a one off. However, my opinion should be considered influential, important or interesting by the extent to which I have 1.2 million....They must be off their fking heads.
Surely you could coachbuild a one-off F12 to exact the same spec for £1m less?
Edit: Can you guess?
