I remember sitting the old (outgoing) c63 cabin and feeling a little cramped and seeing quite a lot of plastic. Have things moved on in the interiors of the latest C class?

I always liked the original W204 interior (pre-facelift) -- very utilitarian and solid, and very Merc.

That said, the new one is quite cosseting and luxurious. Only neg. IMO is the nav. screen.

Wow. Extra money for the package and they STILL have the "let's glue a cheap tablet on a post and hope nobody notices we designed a new dashboard without thinking about modern telematics" dashboard?

Unbelievable. This isn't 2005.

Seems to be a sensible point to place a car and a good spec although personally I'd fine it more interesting without the 4WD system. Still, 4WD seems to be the fashion at the moment so it should do well. smile

Loving the car and spec, but agree with others, the ipad look-a-like stuck on the dash ruins an otherwise lovely interior.

yes

Would definitely prefer a RWD version. Still, I'm glad it's not a jacked-up monstrosity like some of it's stablemates. It'll be interesting to see how it drives.

At last! RHD 4WD!

I think 400 BHP would be good or the choice of 4WD on the C63

Very likeable. Unsure whether about a V6,I would want 8 if I was going down this high spec, big power wagon route.

Looks good, but the name is absolutely fking ridiculous. Cxxx is fine.

Those complaining about the screen have you sat in a new C Class to see if it's better when in the car? Plus do you realise its across the range so will be adorning the C63 when it's released!

Initially I thought it was odd, but looking at other options integrating the big nav screen has never been done very well.

The C450 AMG is an intriguing model, more special than a 335i/335d and it isn't an Audi. Let's see what the Jag XE S is like and how the others react.

The C class has had a Very large hole in the range for a while beneath the C63.

Fascinated to see a) what the new coupe will look like...and if that also gets a C450 version.

What a great idea by Mercedes.

Quick - yep
Estate - yep
Petrol yet relatively economical i.e. 30mpg attainable on the motorway - yep
AWD - yep
Bespoke enough to feel special compared with the more common models - yep

100% fabulous.

Can't help think that they've killed off some C-Class AMG business with this though...
Agreed on all the points! Seems to tick so many boxes that i would struggle to justify getting the 'proper' AMG.

The S-Class interior is much better resolved. Having said that, I strongly dislike the current trend for built-in and not easily replaceable ICE. Today, we can buy a car from the 80's, fit a modern headunit and away we go. In a few years, modern interiors will look like, and be about as much use as, this:

This is deliberate. Cars are now just pieces of complicated consumer tech, just like a phone or laptop. The more tech they're loaded with, the faster they date and the sooner punters will "upgrade", in the same way they do when Apple et al release a new device. Car drivetrains are going the same way and I don't see these complicated double clutch gearboxes and multi-turbo / hybrid powerplants standing the test of time.

Merc seem to be on form at the moment - where BMW were a decade or two ago. V8 flagship, a quick 6 cylinder petrol model below.

Awful looking car IMO in comparison to an S6 or Jag XF sportbrake. Better than the horrendous A Class but just not a fan of Mercedes designs.

Yes, and while it's at least very solidly mounted, it still looks tacky in the extreme with a bezel like you'd see on an Android tablet from 2010 that you could graze cattle on.

You mean it's there ALL THE TIME?! I assumed it slid away when you didn't need it, like an Audi. Blimey - I'm out.
