Quad bike crash four dead
Discussion
I hate these things with a passion, yes they have their uses with regards to farming/agricultural purposes, but 9 times out of ten they are being ragged up and down housing estates & local playing fields with no regards to their or others safety, and unfortunately this is the outcome.
Such a waste of life, I cannot begin to imagine how their parents are feeling at this moment.

How do you get 4 people on a quad bike is the real question here.
Doesn't seem to be enough wreckage to be one of those quad/buggy things that does seat 4. So 4 up on a 2 seat quad maybe? Dangerous in itself.Al U said:
That's the thing I didn't get, I've seen quite a bit of news coverage about it but no one seems to say that they were 4 up on a quad bike which as you say is asking for it. I know people have died and it's tragic, but sounds like it could of been easily avoided.
You think they were asking to be killed? f![](/inc/images/censored.gif)
Yes quads are a complete pain in the arse to almost everyone but the rider, who is normally a complete and utter bell end who cannot make a simply maneuver without blipping the throttle constantly for no reason. I am so glad these were not popular when I was 16/17 as I know I would have wanted one and would have been one of these bell ends.
They need cracking down on. A must wear helmet would be a start, followed by a noise restriction. Anything to make them less attractive to folk who just want to rag them on unsuitable roads and create havoc in quiet neighbourhoods.

The poster is right as death could easily be avoided and that's without knowledge of how it happened because the bare minimum of facts points to stupidity:
Four on a quad
Clearly interacting with the Nissan

The recent influx of cheap Chinese sports/road quads has made these things accessible to people who are usually seen tearing up the local council estate in modified corsas. Why these things are able to be ridden on a car licence is ridiculous they share nothing in character to a car and are more like a motorcycle.... A very bad handling motorcycle, therefore a motorcycle licence not a car licence should be required and all that goes with it e.g. helmets.
Still wouldn't have stopped this particular accident though as the people on it had absolutely no respect for the law or their own personal safety.

I don't think I've ever seen someone driving a quad bike on the road that wasn't driving like an utter bellend. Sure, they don't have to wear helmets but it shows you the intelligence of the drivers seeing as they don't.
urban/ suburban setting and 'sports quad' = bellendery is 99% certain in the proper sticks , agri quad and PPE = just another tool that farmers, Gamekeepers and equestrians use in their 'office'
See a few guys in my village ragging it around on the road on a quad, looks like the unsafest vehicle known to man! Whilst riding them you "feel" safer than a motorbike, but I'm sure you are far more at risk and less control/balance/physics against you.
Not knocking quads, I really enjoy them and great tools for the outdoor, but blimey some of the road ones look deathraps! I rolled one before and it landed on me, it hurt, but it was soft mud, so no harm done, wouldn't fancy it on concrete!

Not sure who to feel most sorry for and certainly can't judge with so little information.
I hope the driver of the car is not made a scapegoat just because 4 people have died.
Given that the damage caused in those photos shows the quad still in the road and reports have already said the Nissan hit the quad from behind, the closing speed must have been large - what redeeming features are there to not make a scapegoat out of the driver?I hope the driver of the car is not made a scapegoat just because 4 people have died.

Quite easily. Out in the sticks we used to ride a cub 90 4 up down a disused railway track to get to school. After thas a ts250 was luxury.
The local 'youths' here used to ride old scooters and bikes up and down dis-used railway tracks, until the police cracked down on it. I heard a rumour that one lad even 'borrowed' his fathers old speedway bike. ![biggrin](/inc/images/biggrin.gif)
