2016 Motoring Plans
Discussion
Hopefully I'll buy my first interesting car in the latter half of 2016. Thinking GT86, 370Z or maybe evan a Monaro if I can get insurance on one and afford to fuel it. Hopefully that means more Sunday Services and the like as I feel like I add nothing turning up in boring car so usually don't bother at the moment. Hopefully get the car in time for a autumn weekend hoon on the Evo Triangle...
Source, buy and fettle a clean NB MX-5 1.8.
I'm thinking -
Axxis ULT pads
TEIN FLEX kit (and any replacement suspension bits, wishbones, top mounts etc.)
SuperPro Bushings
4 wheel alignment
Some form of induction kit for more noise
A nice cat back exhaust
A decent head unit and speakers
A proper seat
And, if budget and time allow - some form of forced induction... Suggestions?
Go to:
Members Meeting
Revival
Shelsey Walsh
Lydden Hill
Some other historic bits
A proper driving holiday with the as yet unbought NB - perhaps the North Coast 500 or a trip to the Loire Valley
I reckon if I get half of that lot done I'll have had a cracker.

Go to my first Le Mans 24h
Do a Scottish road trip for the first time
Get my Golf mk1 roadworthy again, then sell it maybe
Either get rid of the Mongol rally car, or prepare it for a Paris Dakar road trip
Buy an appreciating 80's, early 90's classic with a rather large engine (bmw 850, porsche 928, or similar)
Buy some sort of sensible car as well.
Edit: Do a trackday!

Put the V12 Vantage up against a mate's GT4 around the Evo Triangle, he doesn't know this yet and it could all end in tears...
Circuit des Remparts in Angouleme via Bilbao and the Pyrenees in September.
Non-motoring, trip to dive the Galapagos in June, expensive enough to put paid to all other plans to anything else all year.
Sell the Caterham, maybe.

Some really interesting ideas here. About as diverse as you could want for. I hope PH set up a proper thread so people can write summaries of their antics this year.
I would be happy if I bought a Z4M Coupe, dropped some black advan RS on it, bought a Defender 90 from SA and drove bother about the warmer parts of Europe.
As for bikes. Get back into biking with a Ducati.

Nothing at all car wise.
We might change one of the cars, but honestly even though they are now both 10 years + old, they both still work without issue. No real need to get rid especially as anything I might actually want to buy is too expensive or would require signing up to PCP/HP/Lease whatever. I know plenty do it, I just don't want to. Most new metal looks god-awful anyway or they have totally weak petrol options....all the "good" engines are diesel. do. not. want.
They ain't broke so I don't intend to fix anything. I don't know how people do it to be honest. I don't earn a pittance and between us we probably have enough for another house deposit but I cannot envisage signing up to a new car or blowing 10 k on something second hand, just because I fancy a change.

You'll love Angouleme - did it a couple of years ago. Just brilliant, the way all historic events should be. We splurged the extra (£10?) on pit walk tickets. Well worth it.Circuit des Remparts in Angouleme via Bilbao and the Pyrenees in September.

But keep the Caterham. I regret selling every one of mine.
Autosport Brum in 2 weeks
GRRC Member's meet - Saturday, hate being hungover and trying to watch the racing
Prescott Hill Climb - always try and make a couple inc the October American event
At some point will get to the currently being refurbed Gaydon Motor Museum
Maybe Santa Pod if I can handle the great unwashed

Uprated rod and big end bearings as they've started making a slight noise. Add in uprated head bolts, new gaskets, 750cc injectors, fuel pressure regulator, 3 port boost solenoid, full decat 3 inch exhaust and a new turbo for 400bhp plus.
After all that work, lose many side by side comparisons to a friends new Nissan GTR![hehe](/inc/images/hehe.gif)
Enjoy the car hopefully.

Buy newer tdv8 Range Rover
Buy a less rare e30 and make racecar and start doing trackdays
Hope mums corvette is restored by summer to go on a euro roadtrip rather than the Range Rover
Do euro roadtrip
Drive more for fun as can finally afford a second car

Honestly nothing planned at the moment - which is pretty rubbish. I'll likely do another jaunt into Northern Scotland which a friend of mine thought but it'll be a fairly last minute thing again, we did it last year in my Clio and his Type R (FN2), t'was a great weekend.
I'll continue my threats to buy a new car too, I bet it doesn't happen though. I'm hopeless.
