You get Holden Astra VXR's in Australia. GM reaalllyy need to get a grip on branding and global strategy. Too many brands.

Branding, badge snobbery and stupid concept features aside... What a stunner!

Small, light, probably economical with wheel in each corner handling, sell it cheap with minimal interior and driving aids please?

Nice to know deep in Vx/GM/Opel/Holden someone has a soul!

I've owned three VXs a Cav sporthatch, a MkII Astra & a Zafira A. All were family hacks, the Astra & Zafira I've owned for 100,000 miles & ten years, simply because I couldn't kill them, apart from tyres & servicing the Zaf has only needed a MAF meter (fitted myself) since 2002 when we bought it new. As family hacks they were brilliant.

On the other hand I have use of the in-laws '55 plate Punto 1.2 auto which is woeful, bits fall off the inside & outside with depressing regularity & it is almost constantly in the wrong gear.

So I guess it's just down to expectations?

A mid-engined, rear-wheel drive, sub-tonne Vauxhall?!
yes please. I think many manufacturers follow suit too. Happy days.

best concept from anyone in ages.
Some great touches and a sound product.
With the success and growing popularity of small sporty cars, you never know....fingers crossed

Coloured tyres are not a new idea. I think Marangoni were first - making red and green rubber tyres, and Hankook followed on with orange ones.

Fine for the training shoe generation.....

Anyone know how these cameras in wheel arches work? I have a rear view camera positioned above my licence plate, that lasts about 50 miles in salty roads before becoming opaque.

Small, light, rwd and looks a little like a wide-body RX7. What's not to like?

Cameras instead of mirrors - motor manufacturer development engineer told me only the other week that these won't get through type approval as it involves a TV screen in the car and it's illegal to produce a car where the driver can watch TV at anything over about 2MPH

I suspect he's wrong.

They may not pass type approval but if that's the case I suspect it wont be because of the television rules; it'll be because type approval specifically states that cars must have mirrors.

He is wrong, screens are allowed if they only show video related to the cars position at speeds above x MPH or words to that affect. See RR external cameras on TG with Jeremy running down the camera men, Mercedes's forward facing IR cameras, my Reversing Camera etc.

So he's a motor manufacturer development engineer that's never heard of reversing cameras/screens?

Good stuff. Love it.

Would I buy one? No, never buy a new car, too much depreciation.

Would I buy used? No, not enough power. Although weight is good.

Would I buy used, with a bigger engine introduced later? No, only a two seater and the doors look massive although probably just the hinge position. (vx historically struggle with rust where the doors are part of the wheel house btw)

.....but it's a cracking design. I hope they make it, and it does well. Go VX! ....raise the game. smile
