I imagine it was a bit like these lucky lads, it's a very very quick part of the circuit which once comfortable is taken almost flat out and is partially blind:

Some impressive over reaction to the yellow flag there!!https://youtu.be/pdPk6mA_gZs
Equally impressive reactions from the blue scoob to avoid all the carnage!

News still breaking, so no details yet...
Two occupants of a (private) car crashed off after colliding with another vehicle at the 'ring today.
Both occupants killed instantly, and two marshals seriously injured too. From what I can make out, the car which crashed off had also had another minor accident earlier in the day.
Awful but not a surprise. Two occupants of a (private) car crashed off after colliding with another vehicle at the 'ring today.

I used to be a regular but stopped when they started heavily monetising the place following it's promotion by Top Gear and such.
Went back there last weekend for the VLN and the amount and sheer volume of utter idiots on the track on the Saturday evening/Sunday was unreal.
People with no idea how to overtake safely or drive to their limits treating it like their own private dueling ground. Watched some muppet in a UKreg 997 blocking faster traffic and swerving to stop bikes overtaking. Utter madness.
I don't know what the answer is but there seem to be a lot of utter fking tools driving the place these days.

I believe a fractured wrist and some cuts were the only injuries - lucky, lucky boy. Also some fairly daft stuff at 1:30 and 2:50, I know the cars are damaged but surely you can move them off the racing line on the exit of a pretty blind corner?
RIP to those who've died.

I was there back end of this week and was sad to hear this news on the ferry last night. It was carnage the whole time bikers and drivers alike just going too fast. I did a semi damp lap Saturday morning and the speeds people around me were doing in the conditions were utterly ridiculous.
Nobody should end up dead just going for a fun weekend but we all know it's dangerous.

I watch the EMS videos pretty much daily and there is enoigh evidence there alone. Its clear many do not study the track and then drive at 9 10ths as if they are indestructible. With so much footage now being gathered they need to start prosecuting these morons with dangerous driving. Also when people are clearly driving dangerously dangerously and people witness it the drivers need to be chased down and slapped in the car park, with some if the things I see I am surprised people aren't getting beaten imo.
They do prosecute/investigate if there's an incident. VonSenger said:

It is a notoriously dangerous stretch, we almost had the exact same accident a few years ago.
In a hot hatch I'm taking that corner at anywhere between 120-130mph but it is blind and unsighted, on the previous left handers and we came across an accident with a few cars parked up and a marshal running down the middle of the track with a yellow flag. we would have been 100+ mph by that point and turning left.
Quite how I missed him I don't know and by the time we had to avoid the accident I was slow enough to get off the brakes and get around the other cars.
Had a similar brown-trou moment back in 2008. Guy was parked up on the exit of Kesselchen and was casually disembarking from his car as I was fully committed and using all the available track. I had to lift to avoid taking him and his drivers door out.In a hot hatch I'm taking that corner at anywhere between 120-130mph but it is blind and unsighted, on the previous left handers and we came across an accident with a few cars parked up and a marshal running down the middle of the track with a yellow flag. we would have been 100+ mph by that point and turning left.

I do empathise with the guy on BtoG.com: there is no excuse for not having a yellow LED pad or two along that 2km stretch. It's the third fastest part of the track, FFS.

Incident yes but not bad driving where incidents do not occour. That is what I am talking about.
Won't happen. You'll always have tools on track. I have seen then ban people for "noise" which usually means a Marshall has seen them driving like a dick. Invariably driving beyond limits or not responding to a yellow. It's not surprising there are so many accidents, "stop in the distance you can see" seems to be completely ignored with all the race driver fantasies being played out, people thinking they're Vettel when they're not even Maldonado. A lot of the crashes and near misses look like drivers coming round a corner and being caught out by a hazard in the road ahead that they weren't expecting and have not left much in reserve to deal with, the hazard usually being caused by someone with more ambition than talent losing control and ending up running wide or spinning off.
