That is a USP right there, no wonder they all sold so quickly.
this is a holy grail car for VW fans and is dynamically brilliant
vw didn't make it easy to buy them either, not advertised on their site, no configuration etc
most will have gone to fans imo

I am pretty sure we'll see a few on track days so it doesn't matter how many have been bought by "speculators", it's a free market economy ! The two are not even incompatible!
It does matter when people use their "contacts" to get them over genuine enthusiasts who may not have the same contacts frown
What do you mean ? Anything illegal going here you reckon ? If not, again, it's a free market economy. You need to improve the quality of your network if you failed to buy one.

I really wanted one. I would have chopped in my Rocco for this.
Didn't even think about it unfortunately. Live and learn. May get a used one, but I reckon residuals will be strong.
Genuine question - would a dealer take your Scirocco?

It's lovely, but from a resale point of view surely it's getting on for unsaleable at decent money given the extent and newness of the mods?

I get the appeal of this over a Golf R for track work, since there is a useful weight saving and more hardcore suspension set up.

But if you want to track, why not just get a Leon Cupra Sub 8 for less money, which probably makes a better track car even if it laps the ring 5 seconds slower.

Jesus, these Golfs look so bland. They are beginning to look like Audis........

Yep although I reckon the typical enthusiast buyer of that particular car doesn't care about image/looks.

There won't be many of them on track, and the owners who will track it also know the cars going to hold its value very well

I remember EVO magazine getting into a palaver over the 330ci clubsport because they misread the promotional material as a 200kg weight reduction over the standard model, when in fact it was a pointless 20kg hehe
rofl

This has the back seats missing I believe, that would be a reasonable saving all on its own.

I'd strip it to standard, sell it privately and sell the mods.

Only a true nut would take my car as it is. With 170k on it as well laugh

I am lucky enough to have a Clubsport S on the way and I can chime in my opinion on this thread. I’ve been running a manual Golf R for the last 14 months. It rides well on its passive dampers, a good ride/handling balance. has a very slick gearbox (contrary to others) and as fast practicle everyday transport, it’s great. But after a while it’s a bit boring. The reduced sound deadening, proper seats, gaping hole in the back where the seats should be and the pop-bangs should add some much needed theatre to every drive. Combine that with the suspension changes, and 200kg weight saving and I can’t wait. Track day to Spa to be booked.
Have you specced AC? I wondered what the weight penalty was. Much like the Clio 172 Cup I think I would have to go the whole way and leave it off the list, would seem a shame to add weight when the main USP is the lack of weight.

The 200kg weight saving is being taken out of context.

The Clubsport S is NOT 200kg lighter than the GTI its based on. The guy was referring to the weight saving over his Golf R.

So it's 20kg and not 200kg?

It's 200kg on the Golf. The rofl was at Evos mistake regarding the 330i

Lack of Haldex will be 75kg of that.
Rear seats on their own weigh about...40kg, the Recaro buckets are about 10kg lighter than OEM seats (in the Mk5 at least) each.

Lighter wheels can easily save 3 or 4 KG per corner and lighter discs save 1kg per corner as well.

Still a fair weight saving but you could save more by using plastic front wings but after this it gets very expensive very quickly (carbon body panels, lightweight materials, titanium exhaust etc)

the big question for me is does the club sport sound nice or does it need a sty speaker under the bonnet like the R ?

Not illegal, morally wrong possibly.

I am talking about people/dealers getting their names down on the waiting list (through lots of wink, wink, nudge, nudge), taking delivery and then selling them as "delivery mileage" cars, these are no better than ticket touts.

I am 99% sure these will never depreciate, I think it will replicate the Focus RS500.
