Fantastic thread. Hopefully one day I'll be able to do the same.

I didn't mention it, as I was hoping it wouldn't materialise, but I've got a speeding ticket. Luckily the only time I think I was flashed.

Unluckily, it was for 136kph in a 80kph, the one point in Switzerland I sped (to overtake!). I'm expecting a hefty fine to follow...

Ouch.

I didn't realise there was a system in place for Swiss Police to get UK car details. I'm not sure how they normally deal with non-residents, but as a Swiss resident if I got caught at that speed I'd be expecting a 3-6 month ban and an income-based fine of several thousand CHF, plus a court hearing. Given you don't have a Swiss salary I'm not sure how they'll deal with it but you're way outside the normal 'fixed penalty' tolerance there.

Good luck!

Since May this year there has been an exchange of UK drivers details in place and the fines are beginning to arrive

here.

There's another thread from a PHer caught in Germany.

Great thread. How much was the fine?

No idea, I sent the paperwork off and I'm waiting. I'll update the topic once I know.

I had the same but in Luxembourg. 130 in an 80..145 euro fine. Took 5 months to get it and I was hoping I'd got away with it.

I fear Switzerland will be a bit more!

The ultimate irony was the missus sent me a text saying 'drive safely' which arrived at the perfect time to obscure the waze camera warning...

That’s a scunner of a fine.

Enjoyed this trip write up - well done.. Gave me loss pangs on my Z4MR which I traded in summer 16 after 8 years ownership.

Has me thinking I need to find another.....

Jesus wept. The Swiss really don't like speeding!

Looks like you had a great trip though, and I'd love to do one before It's illegal to drive anywhere.

Just read your thread, I thought it was really good until I read about your fine! That’s rubbish, gutted for you.

Thanks chaps, it really was epic! Such good fun. The fine is a bummer, but it's one of those things.

Balls to that. I just wouldn't go back.

Can you still do that?? I do recall reading something recently where DVLA will enforce fines from abroad...

Humm, I have wondered. But honestly, whilst a lot of money, I done a bad thing, and it'd play on my conscience. I'd like to go back, this time sticking to the speed limits!

I'm already planning 2018's trip, I'd like to have a co-pilot or some other cars, but it won't stop me!
