They're simple & straightforward- easier to work on than more modern designs. I like that.

I love the looks of the Duster so this week i test drove one.

Before people comment on a Duster, they really should drive one.

Maybe people are happier to be able to buy and own a cheap car than have a lifetime of debt by renting a German Merc, BMW, VW etc

My parents have a Logan and yes it's basic but you can't get a new car, with warranty for any less.

Maybe, but they are tight as fk, so David probably has a point.

i like the idea but would never buy one, too cheap for a modern country, considering there are better used cars for not much less. I think the appeal is they are cheap cars disguised as some sort of utilitarian transport..
What do you mean by "disguised as some sort of utilitarian transport"?
I thought the whole point is that they are utilitarian transport.

Opposite neighbours son just got job in Hungary and is having the old man drive it there.
How tomes are changing. Someone from the UK moving to Hungary for work. I wonder what kind of job?

Re DDs, the UK has always loved a cheap car. In the 70s and 80s, we were a viable market for the likes of the Lada Riva, Skoda Estelle Zastava fkmeifIcanrememberitsname. All cheap crap.

The DD is just nother cheap car but the difference is they aren't crap.

I really like sheddy Volvo 850s. Quite cool cars in their own right but couldn't imagine suggesting one as a sane viable alternative to most of those people I'd recommend a DD to.

For those who have never driven a Duster, i believe you'd be surprised how nice they are to drive.

I certainly was when i drove one for the first time this week!

So much so, I've got one on order.

Anyone remember the 80s version?

A school friend's parents had one. They've come a long way since then! It was like some ugly kit car, and I imagine not that inspiring to drive either!
