If I'm reeeeallly going to quible, a 4wd mk2 Focus RS Estate, or a mk3 Focus RS Estate with the engine from the mk2.
Good shout! If I'm reeeeallly going to quible, a 4wd mk2 Focus RS Estate, or a mk3 Focus RS Estate with the engine from the mk2.
I've driven a MK3 Focus RS and it certainly had some of the qualities I'd look for.
If it had an Audi 5 cylinder turbo lump say with an M2 exterior and a GT3 clubsport style interior and weighed 1200kg I'd have one!!

Everybody suggesting super cars ..... I was thinking of a daily driver but keep them coming!
But my fantasy F1 would be my daily? My holy grail "Practical daily" would be a Layer Cake Audi RS6 Estate with a Bugatti veron engine with Rolls Royce interior and has laser guided heat seeking missiles to kill those scumbags that keep trying to steal them for bank jobs and those bloody speed cameras like that Johnny English film.
Recipe 1:
A big, comfortable but simple RWD saloon. ~4.0l naturally aspirated I6 with around 320hp and >400Nm, six speed manual with intergalactically long ratios, suspension like my Mondeo (brilliant combo of comfort, suppleness and handling). Comfy cloth seats with manual adjustment, basic electrics (windows, central locking, seat heaters, AC and cruise) but not much else. 17" wheels with tall tyres. The sort of thing they get in the US and Australia but not here .
Recipe 2:
A Mk4 MR2 Roadster. Basically the same recipe as the Mk3, <1000kg, 6 speed manual, LSD, reliable, cheap, brilliant handling. Frankly if they re-released the Mk3 with a modern engine I'd be happy.

I have already owned my holy grail car.
Problem being it was back when I didn't have the funds to enjoy it properly.
I keep looking and thinking about buying another as prices have risen but not like some other classic cars.
My grail car is a Reliant Scimitar GTE.
Don't ask me why. A older mate had one when I was just starting my driving career & I spent many a hour in the passenger seat going all over the country with him to pick stuff/cars up.
The scimitar made a big impression as he drove it quite hard & it impressed me that much I got my own which I then stupidly sold on many years later.
