£3k for a 'performance' exhaust from VW is a joke when you can get a similar switchable option from BMW and Mercedes for £1k or less. If you've got a 40i BMW you can get a full M Performance sports exhaust with a warranted remap for £1800 or less including fitting.
Yes it's an Akra, but the differences are minimal.
BMW/Mercedes don't sell Titanium Exhaust systems for 1kYes it's an Akra, but the differences are minimal.
Or you could forego the PP, get the lighter better looking (IMHO) Pretorias, and then pay VW £500 to replace the front discs and pads with the Clubsport S set up (which I believe is the same as the PP).
Having ruined my brakes over a few trackdays, my R is in for the Clubsport S upgrade tomorrow...

Get them to put some RBF600 while they're at it. Bound to be the weakest link.Having ruined my brakes over a few trackdays, my R is in for the Clubsport S upgrade tomorrow...

Good idea!No track days planned until next year, but I'll be looking at brake fluid and possibly braided lines beforehand.

The big question for me on this PP is whether you can buy the pack with the pretoria wheels but without the spielberg alloys.
Unless I am mistaken, the press pictures, including the Frankfurt show car have the (lighter weight?) pretorias fitted, not the spielbergs.
or more to the point, why would VW make noise about the weight loss on the PP brakes if the spielberg wheels are heavier than the pretorias ?
for those with OCD the speilberg spokes also face backwards on the drivers side and forwards on the passenger side.
Good points. Someone truly interested in the drive will know 18" do a better allround job. And there VW has forged rims from the base Clubsport, Belvedere they are called and they reportedly weigh in under 8kg a piece. Look great too imho. Most people splurge for the 19" still. Oh well. I've never understood the cynicism directed towards the Golf R in particular regarding lease deals etc. If it allows more people access to what they want that can't be a bad thing can it? It's not as if we're all being forced to have one for crissakes.

Indeed but not if the calipers foul the 18' wheels.Got the Cupra PP/sub8 whatever Brembo brakes, there it's harder to find a 18" that fits...
