I rang LV up to insure my Focus RS, they simply stated that they had zero interest in insuring it. Wouldn't even quote me, found that a bit odd
Does it though?LV seem to completely push themselves as the insurers of nice safe drivers in their lovely little hatchbacks that aren't exactly targeted for theft, and won't be involved in 90mph collisions because they are all toddling along at 45mph in Lane 4 oblivious to everyone behind them.
Anything that goes outside those norms would push their risk profile up too much, and then they won't be "the cheapest", if some of their quoted prices are really high

I remember when I really wanted a Fiesta RS Turbo many moons ago, and I couldn't get insured on it, so I had to go for the XR4X4 instead...bloody RS Ford's!! Mound Dawg said:
First came across this "mandatory tracker" thing when I worked in insurance, it was pretty much the only way you could insure an Escort or Sierra Cosworth back in the early 1990s so it's nothing new.
Ironically, it was the guy who installed my Tracker who told me how pointless all this security tech is. He had a friend in the trade who had all these fancy anti-theft devices on his Cosworth back in the day. He parked it at an airport for a few days and came back to find it had been broken into. All of the tracking devices and associated gizmos had simply been ripped out and thrown over the hedge. The only thing that stopped them driving the car away was a simple hidden battery switch; the sort of thing classic car owners have had for donkey's years. When I was younger I always used to whip the rotor arm out of the car's distributor and pop it in my pocket if I was leaving the car for any length of time. Quite a few insurers stopped covering LR products not fitted with a tracker a couple of years back when they discoverd how easy BMW had made it to steal one, old news TBH, a tracker wont stop it getting stolen but it "may" get it back, these things end up in storage containers at a dock so fast nowdays (stolen to order and escape routes all planned out ect) they had to do something to cover thier "assets"

Lv are only interested in low risk customers, however, for a short while they did offer reasonable premiums to younger drivers but that bit them on the ass big time.

What's odd about it? In your line of work, have you never turned down business? I've turned down a couple of workshop jobs because they're not the sort of thing we do (welding patches onto sills f'rinstance) and people have behaved as if the mere act of being an Alfa Romeo specialist means that we're legally required to take on any work offered to us.
Most odd.
