I travelled 4 hours from Cumbria to look at this car after seeing it on eBay...got there at night time, inspected with a torch and concluded it had had extensive paint on the whole front end, poorly done.
Suffice to say I took the train home. Very surprised to see this in a main agents....

I agree with the comments about them being relatively pricey for what appears to be a poor seller new.
I tried one a few months ago but it was too short a test drive to really assess it. Plus any examples I viewed, even at main dealers, were in poor condition.
I still want to really like these, but the factors aren't aligning yet.

New car buyers wont pay the vaguely silly new car asking prices.

Used car buyers have a small pool of cars to chose from which keeps prices high.

Something like this delivery miles D-4DS @ £19,995 must be value though -

Or this PRO at £20,995

Theres four years running there, all under manufacturers warranty for probably around £2K per year in depreciation.

These will hold their value well. Tell me what naturally aspirated fun RWD coupes can you get now? Especially in the next 5 years when everything will be hybrid and EV.

Cheapest manual gt86 local to me is 6 grand, a year younger than the ad shown and with a quarter of the mileage. Potential track car once they slide further still.

370Z is the closest. Similar money, more grunt, less handling refinement. You pays your money....

In terms of modernish rwd coupe fun, I'd say the 1 series makes a very strong case for itself at this price point. 12 grand will get you into a 2012 135. Of course, they're pig ugly and will probably be more expensive to run, but I bet the difference in engines would be worth it.

Go find a really nice AE86. Puts the price of a used GT86 into perspective.

they're quite different though, as you say.

Maybe get engine and chassis with the PH 130i, great engine with well considered suspension mods?

I think these would be an ideal engine swap project car. Around 7k and it would make sense.

Have you got a link never seen a Manual hpi clear gt86 go for less than about £9500 (even then had 120k on it) normally Manual examples are closer to £12k as per car in add. (Auto although cost more new are about £1k less like for like).

Used/abused mainly, but at 3 years old and circa 25k miles, the handful I viewed struck me that they mightn't stand up to wear and tear too well. Mostly it was scruffy bodywork and ripped driver's seats. To put it in perspective, my 10 year old, 65k mile MX-5 was in no worse condition.

I hope there are tidy ones out there as the format is up my street.

It probably should have been launched in 2010! I read about there for years before they actually started selling them!

Still I managed to be one of the 86 people who got to drive one up the hill at Goodwood when they were launched - which should have been great, but they assigned me an auto! banghead

Despite that, I quite liked it so a couple of years later I booked a test drive for my birthday as I was about to get a lump sum for taking a pension early! laugh

I really liked it, but couldn't quite bring myself to commit.

Which turned out to be a good thing, as I ended up buying a Z4 Coupe for about a third of the money!

But at least I wouldn't have lost as much had I bought a GT86 as I did on my 1 Series - they seem to be holding up pretty well on price, which is why I won't be buying one any time soon!

Didn't the Fiesta ST beat these in most road tests?
