Neighbor has had a 3dr cossie for well over 20yrs now and has spend many thousands on modifying it. It hasn’t been on the road for about 20 if those years.
He says if he ever declares it finished his missus will force him to sell it to recoupe some of the money spent so he keeps it nearly done, but not quite!

I never say never but for me my current car will be very very hard to part with due to sheer rarity and performance.

If I can keep the cash coming in and get through the next round of major preventative maintenance, then Insuspect the 928 will be with me for a long, long time. The combo of RWD, V8 and manual box is getting harder to find.

At this rate, most likely. E46s are becoming less and less common, a nice clean example is nice to see, more-so drive!

Not too bad for 104k miles...

that is a very nice E46 and an E46 touring is tempting but just could not tear myself from the E30

This is never going to be sold while I'm alive, it's just too much fun to part with:

If I had an E30 M3, I'd probably call it a day and not drive anything else!

I can't imagine what I'd replace the Elise with at the moment so it'll be staying for the foreseeable future.

Maybe - I bought my Alfa Romeo RZ in January 1998, 20 years ago now. It wasn’t a keeper at the time.

There have been a few of these threads over the years, it’d be great to see how many of the “keepers” have been kept. Always curious about the newer cars in particular - whether they will retain the same allure when the newer, faster, shinier successor comes out. Saying that, mine was only three or four years old when I bought it.

All of mine have been 'keepers' - until I decided to sell them bounce

That said, my Camaro is feeling like the most keeperish of all. If it stays beyond three years, then it'll be around for a long time. The only thorn in its side is the size of it which makes getting it in and out of the garage a pain in the arse. But everything else is fun and its only purpose in being in my ownership is because its a bit of a giggle and it doesn't cost much to run.

My Cayenne is also fabulous value for money. I struggle with the idea of replacing it because its so cheap and so good, but I am getting the change itch on that one, so will have to see! I've got lots of cars on my list that I'd like to own!

I have owned my 1992 BMW E30 325i touring for over 14 years now. I just never found anything I wanted to replace it with. It won't set any land speed records but its still got some poke.

What a car that is, you'd be mad to ever sell that for sure

A pearl white 1965 beetle that me and my dad restored. started in 1998, so already owned it 20 years! (didn't finish it until 2005 though!)

I will have owned this for 33 years in September, so highly unlikely to get rid soon.
Doesn't come out too much but still great fun on the right roads on sunny days.

My Porsche

For all intents and purposes it is everything I know about cars, in a car. I've done nearly a quarter of a million miles in it and yet I'm still not entirely sure what to do with it. It's been used as a van, the basis of a piece of art, as farm machinery, as ballast for a hot air balloon....... it's my automotive comfortable trainers and I hope it is around for many, many years to come.

Isn't it the one that all knowing Yipper told him to swap for a Golf R?
