A decent buy in 3 years time when lightly used cars that have been up and down the motorway a few times will be £45K.
Problem is cars like this are sooo complicated now that what you save in depreciation you can end up paying back in lumps on maintenance. Not 50ks worth perhaps but I can imagine it being very easy to drop 20K in repair bills once these are a few years old.JMF894 said:

Saw one of these yesterday at a car show. If it wasn't for the placard in front saying 'The New M5', I would have walked right past it. Even worse.....
That, believe it or not, is actually the appeal to many.Edited by E65Ross on Sunday 15th April 10:02

The Audi maybe on its way out, but there's no question which one I'd rather have left the show in. And considering that everyone else pretty much walked right past the Beemer to drool over the Audi, meant I wasn't the only one either (just a pity there wasn't an E63S there!)
Guy on my roads got a three year old one in a dark colour, I'm the only person that noticed it was an m5 in all the times he's owned. The most innocuous performance car ever....Gluggy said:
Maybe off topic but why are heated seats / steering wheel a 1.1k option a 85k car when even an astra has them fitted as part of the standard kit?
Because the article is wrong. You can pay an additional £325 for front AND rear seat heating (front is standard IIRC) and a heated steering wheel is under £200. God knows where £1100 came from. You don't get 600bhp standard in an Astra, though.

Fair point on the price in that case, and as for 600hp in an Astra i guess it depends on how many stickers you apply lol.You don't get 600bhp standard in an Astra, though.

But you could. For a whole lot less than 100k. And you'll still have heated seats....................... You don't get 600bhp standard in an Astra, though.

And Apple CarPlay without paying £200 for it... Why does it seem that sometimes the more "exotic" the car the less you get without ticking the options? I get that the M5 and Astra are miles apart in terms of target market / driving experience but charging for something as "basic" as smart phone integration in this day and age seems a bit cheeky. Stealth looks a major plus for me (after having a C7 RS6 for the last 3 years). The options list seems quite reasonable to me! The big cost is the ceramic brakes and the carbon engine cover seems slightly pointless, but asides from that, it's not a long options list at all (compared to say, Porsche or Ferrari). £1k for a sports exhaust is a bargain compared to aftermarket options.
