There's a LWB XJR 575 serving as a Jaguar Taxi at the Nurburgring Nordschleife at present. It's definitely the only LWB XJ registered in Germany at the moment, and there can't be many in Europe as it's a China-only model as far as I know.

XJ L is a model available in all markets, including UK.

I stand corrected. I was thinking of the XF-L, which is indeed China only.
The car at the Nurburgring is the only XJR LWB in Germany.

It's such a dated and ugly looking car. It was never attractive in the fashion that an XJ should be, and it now looks like a dinosaur next to the other cars in the class. It has never been a true competitor to the S Class, the 7 series, the LS or the A8, it just wasn't good enough to begin with.

I would have to agree. I found it most agreeable around there a few years ago...

I must be in the minority as I have always thought the XJ to be a really rather lovely thing (admittedly not in that colour with those wheels), even if the tail lights took a while to get used to. The vast majority of cars in this segment seem to be from planet bland, but this isn't.

If I was in the market for something like this I certainly would consider it. Alas I'm not, so...

As the former owner of two XJRs, both supercharged and naturally aspirated, I can honestly say that if I had £95k to spend on a new car there's nowhere else I'd be looking.

I think you need your eyes testing. It has always looked great and still looks way better than any modern big BMW. Mercs look nice but not much better than this.

I agree with the minority on here; it’s a lovely looking thing- distinct and classy.
I also agree that modern BMWs have lost their way styling-wise.
To sum up, I’d consider one.

I've always rather liked the fact that Jag broke with tradition and made an XJ that didn't look exactly like the last one. I've always liked the current XJ - it's like a British Maserati Quattroporte.

What makes it look dated? It's still classy and not needlessly festooned with slashes and spoilers.

Too many grammatical and spelling mistakes. It made the article annoying to read.

I have never understood the fussy C pillar black section. It does not give Montego wraparound rear screen illusion nor does it make any sense. A similar trick was applied to the Mk1 XF estate, which has now been removed for the Mk2.

"Jaguar's XJ is a car most will be aware of, but few could claim to be really familiar with. Its comparative rarity works both for and against it. On the one hand comes the cache of being more readily associated with ferrying the prime minister or members of the royal family to state banquets than UberLUX-ing a hen party to Nandos."

Saw a 575 in Sainsbury's car park - blue with darkened windows - great looking car with real attitude. All the reports I've read say it's great to drive. But is it still on sale in the UK - only the diesel engined version is now on the Jaguar UK configurator.

There is - the only one I’ve spotted was when I had the indicator stalk on mine fail, when I took it out it had the FoMoCo logo on it. I imagine there’s countless others elsewhere.

I quite like it but this shape has always lacked the grace of old. I get why they felt they had to move it on, I really do. It has the pace, and that engine is quite something. Perhaps history will be kinder to it, especially if the next xj is all electric. We might well look back at this as the last of a good thing...

I do miss the class of the XJ’s of old though. Lacquered veneer picnic tables and deep carpet mats. Not carbon fibre...
