Give them a break fellas!

A couple of engineers simply saved a pre production prototype from the crusher and without any budget had a bit of fun after hours.

Honda aren’t claiming this is their next big creative challenge, it’s being bigged up by PH as it’s probably a quiet day for manufacturer press releases.

I actually really rather quite like that.

I think the Type R is the best looking of the current batch of hot hatches. Yeah it's not to everyone's tastes (not even mine really) but thankfully at least there is one car manufacturer out there intent on making something that is arresting and outlandish.

Well done Honda, keep doing you.

Reminds me of my teenage intro to hot rodding in the backwoods of Michigan in about 1971 - a bright red Corvette pickup - equally fabulous nonsense!

I prefer this to the hatchback - handy for lugging stuff from the DIY store - but they need to put a proper rear window in behind the driver.

Brilliant.

When I win the lottery will approach Ferrari with my special one off car based on the 812 Superfast, as is the craze nowadays.

That's pretty awesome!!! Nothing like a bit of fun and creativity to add variety to the automotive landscape.

I am willing to bet the naysayers have never done anything fun "outside the box".

Lighten up fellas.

Thanks to PH for seemingly uploading these at VGA resolution so we can't quite see just how bad it is.

Like this one build by Nissan with GT-R drivetrain?

The design of the Civic Type R is horrendous. As they’ve cut chunks out of it, it’s marginally less so. Only marginally mind.

Does look a bit DIY why doesn't it even have a back window in the cab. If I was putting it out there for advertising I would want it finished to a better standard This looks like how people convert old cars into pickups because they can't afford to replace a broken back window or similar.

It surely would be a B-road menace - getting in the way at every corner! Is it a Nissan Joke or a Nissan Puke?
