Have to agree, the 993 Turbo is one of my favourite ever cars but really doesn't suit this colour. Spray it in that deep metallic burgundy instead cloud9

I see they still carried across that awful Porsche Sat Nav. Looks amazing, but that thing is seriously outdated now.

Why did you join Pistonheads? I'm interested to hear the thought process.
I'm not convinced thinking is one of Leonardo's strong points.

Maybe it's my memory playing tricks, but I don't remember having to tick a box agreeing to be a Porsche sycophant when I joined. Is it just 911s, or are there any other similar sacred cows?

It's not sycophancy. I'm no particular 911 fan but if any petrolhead can't see why this is a particularly interesting and special creation - particularly referring to is as 'just another boring 911' then they should probably expect more than a little disdain.

I know why Porsche had done the Gold & Black colour combination to match the new Turbo Exclusive (or what ever its called) but I really don't like it on the 993. And if you can't drive this car on the road, what's the point? As other people have said; its not a track car. Plus its not like the Bond Aston Martin which has the gadgets to show off. Its a rolling advert for the parts you can now buy (I guess there's worse advertising) but for someone who is a big Porsche fan this does nothing for me.

It's emperor's new clothes. They've taken an ageing 911, stripped it, lobbed a bunch of new-old-stock parts at it, and slapped a coat of Fiat Punto "metallic chicken korma" paint on it. Oh, and rung it.

I’d like to know what the total parts bill was considering that it’s nearly a grand for a reproduction luggage cover for a 928!

But as it's a one-off, does it really matter?

The purpose of the project is to show 'what can be done' by Porsche Classic.....the reality is that they could do a similar job on an existing (road legal) shell.....if the customer is prepared to pay the surely quite considerable price.

Just bought one for my GTS actually, just wanted something in keeping and it’s hard to find a head unit that looks as right as these do in an old porker. iPhone will be doing all the nav job anyway!

Underwhelming, especially in light of the plethora of companies currently producing automotive artworks using similar base cars.

It appears that 'marketing' is still a concept lost to many on this forum. This car has been built purely to show what this part of Porsche can do. It could have been pink with yellow spots, it's irrelevant. You're all talking about it, which is precisely the point of it. Making it, doing a PR campaign for it, and then selling it, is a marketing exercise. Not sure why it's so complicated really.

We get a car to talk about, Porsche gets some more customers, a charity gets some money, everyone's a winner.

Relax, it's Friday after all.

Amazing work especially as Porsche Leeds told me they were unable to fit a windscreen to a Porsche car. They do not have the facilities.

Me bitter? Never.

Yes indeed - like I say, I think it's a good looking unit, very good, but it's just a little irritating that they will charge top dollar for a mediocre unit.

I do have a small collection of Becker head units ready for the day I get my Porsche smile

Presume it's not road legal due to current emission legislation. So what's the point of it?

The black wheels look too small and don't work IMO.

Standard seats, rather than sports seats, it doesn't look like a plush 993 turbo S.

Shame they didn't add a black bonnet stripe as per the 991 turbo pictured behind it.

A great colour IMO, yet on the 996 seemingly derided for being crap. Odd!
