I’ve done 42k in just over two years in an XFR-S. Epic car.

Averages 22 mpg.

We had a LHD Audi Q7 V12 from new back in 2011. Over the 3 years that we owned it we put 386000km on the clock, apart from routine servicing/tyres at the main agent it never missed beat. It was a astonishing car, unlike the BMW X5 that replaced it that literally fell apart as we piled on the miles
This works out at about 80000 miles a year, is that correct?

That’s pretty impressive, I only managed 61500miles in 24mths in my 4.2 Q7 - which I thought was a fair effort

I averaged 21.7mpg over the time and distance( hand calculated)
386k km in 3 years is insane.

Assuming a 5 day working week and 48 weeks a year, and no driving at the weekend, that's 335 miles per working day!

Spot on, works out just under 240k miles. 80k a year is just madness!

M4 Competition and I have done 20k this last year and have never seen a respectable mpg.

I wouldn't give a st about seeing 30mpg+ now

The chap who used to work at McLaren will have a better handle on it, but there was a German captain of industry who used to commute big mileage (200 miles return each day I think) in an F1 GTR... Not sure how long I that lasted but 1000 miles/week in an F1 must be a contender, plus it would have the highest average speed as he regularly sustained 200mph on his commute.
This is actually a myth, he commuted using it once or twice and people seem to think he used it daily. Pretty sure it was mentioned on the Flemke thread.
You're thinking of Dr Thomas Bscher who owned an F1 during his time in investment banking. Apparently McLaren downloaded data from his car that showed his autobahn commute regularly exceeding 200mph, but it was not that he racked up huge mileages. Bscher incidentally is an accomplished racer (7 Le Mans starts including an overall 4th and 5th) and went on to be President of Bugatti.

For big miles in a mental car, how about this where the owner managed to get through 44,000 gallons of super plus (loved this quote: "Mr Weikinger could have bought himself a Mercedes-Benz S 65 AMG with the money he spent on fuel...")

35mpg in a Giulia Qf is a tad optimistic. Even on a steady run you're not going to get much over 30. That's a great place to sit and rack up mega miles though.

80k a year? That’s got to be the thread winner! How many miles does an HGV (is it now LGV??) trucker drive on average?

Do you use the loud pedal as an on / off switch?

My wife averages 25.5 from hers and certainly doesn’t drive like a saint...
Not at all. Just normal driving. In the month I have owned it I have only driven it once with out my 18month old daughter in the back so no silly speed or flooring it everywhere.

There's a guy at our datacenter does a daily commute of 100 miles each way with a BMW i3 with range extender. It sits charging here all day.
He's just changed it at two years old for a new one because of the mileage on it.

Yes, correct, commuting weekly between Germany and our home in Devon, We were unable to run the X5 that preceded that for the full 3 years as it literally become very troublesome from about 200,000km, with a number of breakdowns. it also looked inside and out that it was on its last legs, the quality was no where near that of the Audi.

Here's a 2007 Fiat Panda 100HP with 160,000 miles on it. That's an average of slightly over 14,500 bouncy miles a year biggrin

A boss of a big firm I deal with had a Mercedes CL 600 V12 - you could argue that it was made for piling on the miles - but covering 40k in one year was eye watering considering the MPG. Would have been comfy though...

Also know of someone daily driving an Aston DB9 - did 25k miles p.a.
Conversely an old pal of mine used to use his 6 mth old DB7 for a 7 mile commute 4 days a week. His first service when it came to 12 mths old was eyewateringly expensive as it had not been 'used properly' according to AM and many parts were fubar. Expensive mistake.

Would love to hear more on your experiences of doing that sort of mileage in a TVR, have you ever run a thread on them?

Office was in Dusseldorf, no flights into the West Country on a Friday evening or back to Duss on a Sunday, so would leave the office at 2pm on a Friday and motor up to Calais for the Eurotunnel, all being well arrived home just after Midnight, then leave Sunday afternoon, arriving back at our house in Germany around Midnight, did that for 6 years up until last year, on a few occasions forgot my passport, but the car and me were so well known at the Tunnel was let through ! Company car and fully expensed
