...if you can accept the idea of modification, which I appeciate not everyone does. That is part of what makes the GT86/BRZ such a marmite car. As a canvas to work on, if that's your thing, it's great. Even more so now with decent second hand examples starting at about £10K. I'm glad at least a few people have bought them new though!

It is weird to find a car that seems like it's been made for the second owner (i.e. the one more likely to modify it...)

There is another slight problem that often doesn't get as much press .... in that the base cars are commonly down on power against the manufacturers claims. We all know that manufacturers claims can be generous at times but when the starting point is low in the first place this does not help does it.

To put this into context we have had the torque dip removed by way of some light NA mods, it works incredibly well completely filling the torque gap and with a circa 20% increase in power to boot. Engine response & flexibility is much improved but if you just look at the BHP numbers in isolation then it's quite shocking, we started at 170.5bhp (stock) and increased to 204.7bhp (manifold, filter, exhaust & map).

( Appreciate that these will vary between rolling roads and note our car hasn't many miles on it yet so still a bit tight I think )

I couldn't give a monkeys about the numbers and in lightly modified form the car drives pretty well on a give & take b road, but I think the above contributes to peoples disappointment with the performance and it rarely gets mentioned in the press.

Guess I'm in the minority that thinks it looks great then. If it was an option here. I'd definitely consider it. Although would need the infotainment screen back in place as it looks daft without it.

plastic blanking plate looks cheap and nasty.

Either a "limited edition 0005 or 19999" type metal plate or like you say some retro dials and, maybe a couple of metal toggle switches
