Phew, for a minute there i thought this thing cost £50k.........

(literally 3 people in the UK are going to buy one of these, and all of them will look like massive plonkers when they explain to their pub mates how they spent £50k on a 4 cyl diesel pick up truck)

Agreed; would have been epic with a decent petrol motor.

Well, I've bought one. Yeah, I know the engine isn't the best, but it's about an awful lot more than just the power plant anyway. For sure, if in future it's available with an EcoBoost motor, I'll swap it for one of those, but for now it'll do me just fine. Should be one of the first customer cars in the UK, having been built a couple of days ago. Gone for Ford Performance Blue without the graphics pack.

Yeah, £50k is expensive, but when you compare it to SUVs or other high-end trucks it's not bad. Yeah, I'd rather have a proper F-150 Raptor too, but the reality is I can't and this is the next best thing. Still, even the F-150 hasn't had a V8 for a few years. Supply is seriously limited too, so I wouldn't be surprised if they were going for overs initially.

And like the article says, my four-year-old is bursting with excitement about the prospect of us having this thing; to him it's like having a real-life monster truck. No matter the downsides, it's worth it just for that. hehe

Is this not out yet? I've seen two RHD Raptors in Bedfordshire in the last few months... First one was in a Sainsbury's car park and I did a double-take when I realised it was RHD and wasn't an F150 (we get a lot of yank cars passing through due to proximity to Shuttle worth)

Was it an optional bodykit before rather than a full spec level?

The only thing that puts me off these (apart from not having the money laugh) is the size of them. I was doing something with Ford recently and asked to shift one. I only moved it off a beach and into a car park, so only crawled. The interior seemed nice enough, it drove across the beach fine but, lordy, when I got it into the car park it felt like a lorry. They are blinkin' massive. If you don't have to go into town and just drive across fields, or two trailers etc, I can see the appeal, but I don't think I could live with one every day. It's just a bit too big for our roads and town centres. I think that would get old pretty quickly.

Also, it's not classed as a commercial vehicle so no tax write offs....
Is that the case? Was talking to someone yesterday and, if it's used for business, it can still apply. A driving instructor car isn't a CV, but can still be used for tax write-off?

Sounds great shame it doesn't the 3.2d.
The 3.2 has been replaced by the bi-turbo 2.0.

I would imagine they will sell quite a few of them. People seem to love the normal Ranger, so why wouldn't there be a few out there willing to buy this?

Jealous!

Seeing as the V8 was dropped from the F-150 Raptor, I think it was pretty unlikely they were going to fit one to the Ranger laugh

There are a couple of companies doing pretend Raptors. As far as I know, they are just cosmetic exercises.

I've had my real, full-fat 6.2 V8 Raptor Supercab for over 5 years and 50,000 miles now. I have a few cars at my disposal, but 90% of the time I'll take the Raptor. I have no problems driving it on UK roads, have never had a problem parking it. The UK Baby Raptor will have even fewer issues.

And if I look like a 'plonker' as the article states, well, I don't particularly care; I love it.

Intriguing concept. But a bit All Mouth No Trousers for me.

Out of interest, can someone still take a 1000kg payload vehicle as a salary sacrifice vehicle and just pay commercial vehicle BIK in tax? That would seem remarkable value if so.

In spite of my criticisms above, good on you for that sentiment alone (my 2.5 year old girl would agree!), and I sincerely hope you and your son love your truck. smile

What sort of money do F-150 Raptors cost here? Despite my criticism of its usefulness, if I had the cash, I would still have one. My inner child loves it and, like you, doesn't care if people think I'm a plonker. If people care so much about what other people think of them, that they'll only buy certain cars, then the only loser in that situation is them!

What are they like on a decent length motorway cruise? Ie road noise, comfort, interior quality etc guessing a couple pegs lower than a RRS or similar but these have so much more want! With Clive Sutton often having RHD converted ones for sale also I’m very keen.

Sorry, I meant in principle, not this difficult vehicle.
Is it income tax free to salary sacrifice and pay BIK on, say, a Toyota Hilux?

Ford told me it was taxed as a normal car would be
