Not sure I'd agree that a brave pill is needed

Absolutely cracking in yellow but I always preferred the ones with the fastback, the bigger teardrop shaped hatch.
Even like the tyre lettering!
The Zo6 was only offered in the fixed roof notch back style and replaced the very rare fixed roof coupe model. The regular C5 is cool and highly capable. But the specific go faster bits of the z06 weren’t available on it. Even like the tyre lettering!
I do wonder if the LHD aspect is as big a problem as people make out.
Here in the UK, I don't recall any motorway toll booths around the road I frequent, and I havent been to Macdonalds drive through for as long as I care to remember.
It does sound like using one of these here would be okay, but then if you head to the continent, it would actually be a more useful car. I think the LHD thing isn't much of a dealbreaker here, whereas on the continent, RHD would be more of a problem, given the toll booth experience is more frequent.

Toll booths aren’t really much of an issue. You can just jump out and walk round the car if need be. And as you say for most people most of the time in the UK toll booths just aren’t part of most journeys. .
Nah, it's fine. Only issues are drive thru, car park barriers and the occasional T junction, the latter of which is easily dealt with if you arrive square on, rather than at a left-hand angle..
Other than that after a week or so driving, they aren't any harder than RHD. Don't let that put you off an LHD motor if you want one

I am fairly certain that the Hardtop and Z06 were offered simultaneously. Agree that the Targa is the better looker though.
No, the 99 C5 Coupe was supposed to be a stripped, light version of the C5 but didn't sell so they made the coupe the staple Z06 shape for the 2001 MY and gave it the firepower of the 385hp LS6. This was uprated to 405hp for the 2002 MY along with other changes. The most the hatch had was 350hp.
The C6 was introduced with the 400hp LS2.

So the regular C5 has the large rear glass hatch or fastback. With a targa top. These were rated at 345hp or there abouts depending on exact year. 6 speed manual or 4 speed auto. Launched for 1997 MY.
As Lu5ifer says. In 99 they offered the notch back body known as the Fixed Roof Coupe or FRC. Same spec as the regular coupe but base model and stripped and slightly lighter. This became the z06 the following year. The z06 has many unique parts including the higher revving Ls6 motor. The z06 was only available with the 6 speed manual.

I don’t have a 630 any more. Need to update the profile.
We have a BMW 535i, Mustang GT and Panda 4x4. All are everyday cars. Which is my point. For use every day, lhd over here (or rhd over “there”) is a complete pain in the arse for an every day car
Maybe it depends what your every day use is. What exactly would be an “arse” for you?We have a BMW 535i, Mustang GT and Panda 4x4. All are everyday cars. Which is my point. For use every day, lhd over here (or rhd over “there”) is a complete pain in the arse for an every day car
I don’t drive my LHD car daily. But that’s because I can’t afford to fuel it for the week day commuting mileage I do. Not because it is LHD.
I drove a C4 Corvette for 3 years as a daily and two Camaros as dailies for 4 years, one manual. It depends on how you use it and where you go. Only issue I had was the Severn Bridge tolls and they've gone now.
Still used to go to the right side and had to pretend to look for something in the glovebox...

Haven’t seen one in ages...much bork potential?
Every car has bork potential - the advantage of the yank is that there are so many made that spares are quite plentiful and (relatively) cheap for mechanical bits. Body is possibly slightly more difficult but still cheaper than German or a lot of Japanese stuffGassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
