RE: Abarth 124 Spider | Spotted

Stupidly overpriced from day one.
I could live with the signature matt black bonnet but the boot & spoiler looks too much like an afterthought, the spoiler in particular. Have seen some less dreary interiors too, a bit of colour would be nice.
Best of all you will go for weeks without seeing another which you can't say about MX-5's, Boxster's & TT's

No, the engines/drivetrain used in the 124 are Fiat units.
Nope, the gearbox is the 6-speed from the MX-5 NC (and is able to handle more torque than the ND version).I think I preffer the 124 Abarth over the MX5 ND, looks aside.

I have one. It may have a list of 30k but no one paid this.
Have to disagree there.I had one of the 1st in the UK in Sept 2016 and didn't get a penny off the rrp of nearly £32k with options - despite trying a few dealers.
Whoever bought mine got themselves a great car - and I suffered nearly £14k depreciation when I px'd it. It only had 1800 miles in 2 years when I sold it as I just didn't get the chance to drive it much.
I did have it remapped to 200bhp at Alfacare which transformed the car. Anyone who has one now, then I totally recommend the remap.

Bloody hell £7.80 a mile in depreciation alone. I had one of the 1st in the UK in Sept 2016 and didn't get a penny off the rrp of nearly £32k with options - despite trying a few dealers.

I think you were an early adopter! Like some one who buys a phone when it comes out then 6 months later same phone discounts by 40%I had one of the 1st in the UK in Sept 2016 and didn't get a penny off the rrp of nearly £32k with options - despite trying a few dealers.

It very quickly went to 20% with even more off the standard car plus very favourable finance deals
Happy owner here.
I paid a fair bit under 20 for mine, felt great value compared to my last few cars.
And I've found myself taking this one out for a drive just for fun.
Lightweight, RWD, LSD, Bilstein suspension, brembo brakes.
I've not had fun on wet roads since my AE86 from 25 years ago.
Bringing it back from the garage I got 48mpg.
The red bits didn't grow on me so changed them for black, easy to do.
I'd recommend one.

Tell me about it...!Yeah, they quickly introduced deals a few weeks after I bought mine. I really enjoyed it, though - even with the (limited) miles I drove. It had loads of character.
I really wish I could have afforded to keep it as a 3rd car, but I had the chance to get my (realistically achievable) dream car - hence why I px'd it.
I love how much some people on this forum hate four-pot turbo engines. It really is hilarious. I wonder how many of them own stonking V8s and V10sm and how many own diesel four-pot rep-mobiles that their wives made them buy
I really like these. I think they look far better than the MX-5. They have a lot of body work above the front wheels (I assume due to pedestrian protection requirements) and the way Mazda made the nose drop away to add some aggression makes the lines of the car really strange. The design of the Fiat seems much better resolved in these areas.
Couple that with a turbo engine that is probably easier to live with in the real world and it's the one that would interest me the most.

Saw a red one with the black bonnet when I was on holiday in Italy last year and thought it looked the bollx.
