If I had a few quid and was looking for an EV, it may as well be a stunning shape. That XK120 looks amazing in black!

This stuff's a novelty for now, sure. However, I feel like in 20 years or so, when EVs are the rule rather than exception and have been for a while, classics that have had these conversions will be worth less than half the unconverted versions.

Great to see you've been brainwashed. Doom and gloom.

Classic cars will be still running on petrol in decades to come. End of discussion.

Sometimes people are so indignant that they just have to get their point out without taking the time to actually read and understand what they are replying to... laugh

Really not sure how I feel about this. I can see the appeal certainly, but part of me thinks these classics should remain as they are. Conflicted, but wholly irrelevant as I could never afford the ICE or EV version anyway.

As he says...in 20 years people will still want the ones with the original petrol engines. Electric motors are a novelty now, petrol motors will be a novelty in the future

It would be nice if you could take the rolls engine out and keep it as a centre piece with the ability to start it up on a stand. Much like with some merlin engines.

The reference to city centre driving is redundant as far as London is concerned. Rolls, Jags etc of that era are all in the ‘historic’ taxation class and hence dodge the ULEZ charges anyway.
Bang on.

For the moment

In 20 years do not expect much support for fossil fuel burning vehicles

Just look how attitudes have changed to smoking over the last 20 years, now smokers are social lepers, and fossil fuels are vastly worse

I've often wondered - when people slobber on that the wholesale move to EV will render ICE propelled vehicles extinct - why all the world's horses aren't dead?

Classic Cars should be driven.

If swapping the engine for a motor means it will be driven more then I am all for it.

(You can always put the old engine back in again at a later date).

Also there’s a lot less of then around than back in the day. Keeping a horse now is the preserve of the rich - as will be classic cars.

I don’t think they’ll be banned, just taxed to stratospheric levels to make them a rare event. The general public opinion will shift so drastically as well that it’d be a brave soul who drives one into a town centre.

Very similar sentiments regarding the Rolls here.......bucket loads of torque delivered in (near-as-dammit) silence seems entirely befitting.

Yep, it would be interesting to see how they justify it. Has a 'let's see what we can get away with' feel to it.
